Mike and Kathryn had a child. A little girl named Maria. When Maria was twelve, she went to her first dance. She was finally fitting in with the rest of the kids at her school. She never really got along with the other kids, considering she was new. She had a new teacher, new friends, and new school. After the dance, Maria wanted to sleepover at a friends house but it was late and the Gregory's couldn't let her sleepover at the friends house. Maria was disappointed, but still in a good mood. The school was not too far away from the house, but the road was steep and on the end was a sharp turn. Marias father missed it. The car skidded off the road flipping the car. Luckily, a family noticed the overturned van, and called an ambulance. Kathryn, the only one conscious, listened to the sirens, hoping that the rest of her family was okay. Later, at the hospital, Kathryn had already seen her husband. He had a broken leg, and a few cuts and bruises. Alas, the doctors were avoiding the subject of Maria. Finally, Mike broke out into tears, and demanded to see his daughter. Reluctantly, the doctors brought her to them. Maria was dead. One year later, a new family moved into town, a mother, a father, a three year old boy, and a twelve year old girl. The girls name was Amanda. Right away, when Amanda heard about the Gregory's loss, she picked some flowers and brought them to Kathryn before school. "Hello Mrs. Gregory, Im Amanda and I wanted to bring you some flowers." She said while standing in the doorway nervously. "Why thank you my dear, Ill put them in some water." Kathryn answered. While she put the flowers in some water, her back turned to Amanda, she thought about Maria. When she turned back around and looked at Amanda, to her surprise, it was Maria. She smiled tenderly at the girl, and under her breath, she said, "Maria..." Then she closed her eyes for one second, but when she opened them again, it was Amanda. "Um, darling, before you leave, could you go down to the cellar and bring me up some apples?" Kathryn asked. "Of course, Mrs. Gregory. Amanda answered. Slowly and carefully she went down the stairs. The apples are in the far right corner dear." Kathryn called out to her. "I found them Mrs. Gregory." Amanda told her. Kathryn quickly closed the cellar door, locked it, and smiled. "Finally, my darling Maria has returned to me!" she thought. "Mrs. Gregory! Mrs. Gregory!" Amanda screamed while slamming her small fists against the door, sobbing, "Mrs. Gregory!" After a while Amanda quieted down. Kathryn then came down towards her, holding out a dress that used to belong to Maria. "Put this on, Maria. She told her. Amanda looked at Kathryn with red, puffy eyes. "Put it on!" Kathryn scolded. Amanda put the dress on and Kathryn came over to her, hugged her tightly saying, Maria, say, I love you Mama." Amanda didnt utter a sound. "Say, I love you Mama." Kathryn repeated, this time, a little bit harshly. "I...I love you, M...Mama." She replied quietly. Kathryn smiled and said, "Oh Maria I love you too! Your father should be home sometime tonight so Ill go make us some dinner." And with that, she left the room in a hurry. Amanda sat on the cold, stony floor, trying to sort out her thoughts. Something was definitely wrong with Kathryn and Amanda believed that Kathryn just couldnt take in Marias death. Given plenty of time, Amanda thought of a way that she might, with luck, is able to escape this crazed woman. "Maria, darling, come and eats and dont forget to say hello to your father." Kathryn called out to Amanda. *fire flyer*
