We're talking about gasses here. Toxins floating through the air. Tiny little molecules, freely flying around wherever the wind takes them. Microscopic molecules that can fit through even the tiniest crack. I don't think you seal off a room perfectly to prevent a gas from getting in. And if you do, what will stop or your family from suffocating eventually with no air getting in or out? Our only line of defense against this is vaccines and awareness and local programs to help administer these vaccines. I don't think "home remedies" such as duct tape and plastic wrap would quite do the trick if the time came, I really don't. But who knows, all this attention to the products are pulling them off the shelves quicker. Maybe it's all just a plan to stimulate the economy! Who knows? :) - |

i'm sure it is just a gimic to stimulate the economy, but either way, even if it would do no good, it still provides people with a little bit of a feeling of safety, and i think a lot of us are lacking that feeling right now. |

The one part of the article that got to me was, "The recommendations for sealing off a room with plastic sheeting and duct tape are based on what Israel has done since the 1980s to protect its people against chemical weapon attacks -- and were widely used during the Gulf War," says John Sorensen, PhD, research scientist at Oakridge National Laboratory, the Tennessee-based Department of Energy facility that is charged with devising emergency preparedness plans for several federal agencies. "But rather than permanently seal off a specific room, as is done in most buildings in Israel -- where many homes are now built with a specific 'safe' room -- we wanted to develop measures that most people can take if there was one of these low-probability releases of a biological or chemical agent." These people have had to be prepared for years. Maybe WE need to stand up and take notice.
