North Korea or Iraq: Which most dangerous?...***TRIAD

  Author:  177  Category:(Debate) Created:(3/6/2003 3:27:00 PM)

Which of these two countries do you think is the most dangerous? These nations are separated by thousands of miles, but have in common the dubious honor of being headed by demonstrably highly dangerous, tyranical, psychopaths.

Both Saddam, and the Korean leader are monsters of inhumanity, and have given every evidence of being given to aggresive & brutal tactics against their own citizens: The Korean leader leads a hard-core Stalinist regime that lets his people starve, while he makes ever more threating and frightening gestures toward those he perceives to be his enemies. Saddam, as we know, has gassed some of the Kurdish population of his own population...and is strongly suspected of hiding more potential nasty tricks up his sleaves.

I think we need to be good & ready to make preemptive strikes (if warrented)...if these two countries don't make full disclosures, and back off of their saber-rattling.

So what do you think?

Date: 3/6/2003 3:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 57404    Well we know North Korea, are making threats. Saddam is at least making it look like he is trying to do what we ask him to do. I think North Korea is trying to pick a fight by what they have said so far. We know North Korea has weapons of mass destruction. They aren't hiding that fact, while we suspect according to our goverment that Saddam has these weapons as well. I feel N. Korea is more of a threat to us right now than Saddam is or will ever be.
Just my two cents.
God Bless

Date: 3/6/2003 4:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 16538    North Korea is trying to blackmail us into giving them humanitarian and economic aid. I say we take care of Iraq then N Korea.
Date: 3/6/2003 5:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 61977    They are both equally dangerous. A war with Korea would have many casualties. WWIII is about to begin my friends. Mrs. Mommie Nealy
Date: 3/6/2003 6:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 61912    North Korea is by far more dangerous. Not only do they for a fact have nukes but China has thier backs...........Andy
Date: 3/6/2003 7:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 17204    I think North Korea is a bigger threat as we know for a fact they have Nukes! And thats not good because such an irrational agent won't hesitate in using them. Plus I think we have a better handle on the Iraq situation.
Date: 3/6/2003 7:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    Both have the honor, as you say. But North Korea is a boiling pot, ready to explode. They have weapons, who and where and when is the question. North Korea worries me more than Iraq, much more. They have proven many times to be unstable and brutal.
Date: 3/6/2003 7:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 16538    I dont think theres much of a debate here because we all agree they both should be dealt with. But Korea isn't doing it to win a war against the US but to try to be a bully they never could and financial ade in there current economic state.
Date: 3/6/2003 8:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 28899    North Korea is a much bigger threat. They are within reach of three heavily developed regions, to the north is a country desperately trying to bounce back from a century of constant turmoil that also happens to be swimming with nukes, and they have networks of illegal weapons trade so elborate that I wouldn't be surprised if even the states were buying from them. It looks to me like the lines are being drawn between the U.S. and the rest of the world, and with politics this juicy, I'm almost hoping Bushy gets re-elected.. Almost, lol!
Date: 3/6/2003 8:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    I'm starting to think that North Korea is more dangerous. I get the impression that their leader is the more unstable of the two leaders...although Saddam is a sneaky, villainous character. We live in interesting times.
Date: 3/6/2003 8:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    I'm starting to think that North Korea is more dangerous. I get the impression that their leader is the more unstable of the two leaders...although Saddam is a sneaky, villainous character. You guys have all made great points. We live in interesting times.
Date: 3/6/2003 8:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 16538    The middle east is a ticking time bomb ready to explode. There are I think three countries in the middle east with nuclear weapons.
Date: 3/6/2003 10:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 55967    A Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times." ~GypsyHawk~
Date: 3/7/2003 11:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 36079    How about this, we utterly destroy the leader of Koreah and his regime first. This gives Saddam a little bit more reason to shake in his boots, maybe it will put him over the edge enough to start disarming. I think America might be ok with that war moreso as well as the UN, and NK has already refused to quite making more nukes. Then afterward if Saddam still needs correcting, we'll go after him. hee hee hee
Date: 3/7/2003 1:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 61928    I like just the opposite, SP. I say we take care of Iraq now, and give N.K. time to think twice about selling/using those nukes. The world is about to see how badly a country can be destroyed as we all watch Saddam and his boys beg us to show mercy.
Date: 3/7/2003 5:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 21867    What do I think?? I think AMERICA is the country most guilty of 'sabre-rattling'...has been for some time now. As for which of the two countries is most dangerous - North Korea for sure. Both are led by a pack of loons...but where as Saddam prinicipally shouts of his mouth, Nth Korea actually has the muscle and ability to back up much of its talk. As for pre-emptive strikes of Nth Korea...good luck...would advise your countrymen to invest in some SPF 2,000,000 sunblock...ya gonna need it. Peace,
Date: 3/7/2003 5:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 53314    The Korean leader leads a hard-core Stalinist regime that lets his people starve

There starving people all over the world??

You people are so arrogant."Ya they will both be dealt with" America is biting off more then they can chew...

Date: 3/7/2003 9:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 55967    "Sabre rattling." I like the imagery. Got to use that in a story. Thanks, Agent Smith. However, back to the issue, yes, N. Korea is much more dangerous and stronger than Iraq. However, I would not bet on a nuclear strike to U.S. soil anytime soon by them. Why? Because from what I've read, yes, they may have a bomb or two now, and yes, they may have an untested missile that can travel the distance to America. However, it is well known that they do NOT have the guidance system required to deliver the missile where they want it to go; if they aim for California, it may hit somewhere in South America. Also, this can't be proved as fact, but most first-generation nuclear explosives (meaning the first ones a country is able to build), usually are well over 1,100 pounds, which would be way too heavy for Korea's missiles to carry right now. And to Rowley, first, we Americans HAVE fought wars on two fronts before. However, most Americans are not even looking for that; the public at large as well as the government want the Korean issue settled with talks before any fight is begun. ~GypsyHawk~
Date: 3/7/2003 10:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    korea is no threat, they're just trying to mosey along even tho starving your people isnt the best thing, now saddam he is a threat but i dont get why they have to take action ON MY BIRTHDAY, can you see me telling that to my kids or grandkids? "yes this is a day that we began killing thousands of arabs, its such a proud day"
Date: 3/8/2003 4:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 21867    GypsyHawk - Any tactical Nuke strike on American Forces will very likely not be on American soil...as you have pointed out, Nth Korea lacks (from what is known) the ability to deliver a Nuke via ICBM. It would not surprise me, however, if Nth Korea strike upon American Forces gathered on the border between Nth and Sth Korea. Camp Jackson, near Seoul, is well within reach. Peace,
Date: 3/8/2003 5:29:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    For what it's worth: On the Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, the other night there was a remote viewer who was guest, who says that N. Korea has a nuke buried in a tunnel just inside their border. They are going to make an invasion of South Korea, and then pretend to retreat back into North Korea...with tens of thousands S.Korean & US troops in hot pursuit...then the north will explode the nuclear device which will blow up beneath the troops, causing massive casualties...and from there on...who knows. Yes, I will concede that perhaps Bush and Colin Powell have been doing more sabre rattling than...well...whatever. We do have to give our enemies (and friends) fair warning.
Date: 3/8/2003 10:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 22080    they once found a 6 lane highway setup so that it can blow the cap and launch an invasion into S.K. and it had large vehicles inside this tunnel highway thing
Date: 3/8/2003 12:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 55967    That, I do agree with, Agent Smith. I always said that if I were stationed in Korea now, especially on the DMZ, I would be ready for anything. As they probably are, right now. That spot was hot before, but now it's real hot. ~GypsyHawk~
Date: 3/8/2003 1:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 24845    I think that North Korea is very dangerous indeed. I think it would be a mistake to turn our backs on them. They have been very smart with thier tactics at this time. They think that we're preoccupied with Iraq right now, so they think that can sneak on us. In my opinion while we're looking out our front door, someone needs to be watching the back door.
Date: 3/8/2003 5:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 46565    North Korea is far more dangerous! Their dictator flat out said if the US can pre-emptively attack Iraq, then North Korea can pre-emptively attack the US specifically by nuking LA if it feels threatened by the US. The only reason we are not pushing war with North Korea is because we KNOW that they have nuclear weapons while the government goes knows that Iraq doesn't or else we wouldn't be going over there at all.
Date: 3/8/2003 5:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 46565    Also, communist China will ally with North Korea if anything ever happened and I don't think that the US wants to take the chance of messing with a country that has a billion people. The Chinese army could basically take over the US now if they wanted but that of course would start World War III which is in non one's interest. Of course even if china lost half of its population through war it would still be twice the population of the US right now.
Date: 3/8/2003 10:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 28899    China wouldn't back up North Korea. They have nothing to gain from it, and everything to lose. I'd say the biggest threat would come from the chain reaction of North Korea's first tests. Come on, you just know South Korea and Japan are going to be seriously FREAKED, and try to buy nukes from Russia -and South Korea would probably be able to legally, given this new threat. Saddam Hussein and Kim Jong-il are probably of equal threat to 'U.S. soil', but North Korea stands to start an old fashioned war. Not a siege, like Bush thinks he can pull-off in Iraq, but an actual war. Having said that, though, I think the U.S. should stay out of it, as they have done. I think everything would turn out properly if the UN forces the U.S. and their "coalition of the willing" to attack Iraq alone, and hand North Korea to the Security Counsil. That would allow the states to have their way, maintaining their image as regular hypocrites, and the UN can redeem itself after allowing Iraq to be attacked. Thus averting that 'clash of the titans' for another decade or so.. GypsyHawk, I find it strange that 'Interesting Times' would be considered a curse. Maybe it's just me :p
Date: 3/8/2003 11:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 55967    ^^^Great points in the first half of your comments, UT. I agree with them. About the quote, it means that whenever there are huge changes in the international status quo, or huge, far-reaching events occuring, it usually is accompanied with great upheavals, wars, or some form of chaos, and the people living during those times are usually paranoid about how things will turn out, but they are called "interesting" because they hold the focus of the present people, and are indeed interesting to anyone living in the future looking back on them. WWII is a good example. Or the "wild west" in the US. Also, the fall of the Roman Empire. ~GypsyHawk~
Date: 3/9/2003 1:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 28899    I'm familiar with that quote, and it's meaning. Those were some interesting times, though. And worth studying. Some would be amazed at how thoroughly history has repeated itself..
Date: 3/9/2003 4:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    It seams like every age has had its share of psychopathic, tyranical, despots: Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Saddam, and the N. Korean guy...to name just a few.
Date: 3/9/2003 5:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 55967    ^^^LOLOLOLOL!!! Why am I laughing? I've been reading different sites about current events, and listening to different people. On some sites are celebrities spouting their views. Thing is, no matter who is talking, 90% of the time it's "Saddam, Bush, Hitler, etc., and 'That N. Korean Guy.'" Just started to crack me up that we all call him that. ~GypsyHawk~
Date: 3/13/2003 2:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    I'm starting to crack too. Excuse me while I go and have my medication adjusted. Ahhhh...now that's better....now I don't even care 'bout 'nuffin'.
Date: 3/13/2003 2:57:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    Oh yeah...the N. Korean guy....I think his middle name is "Ill"...which is appropriate.
Date: 3/13/2003 2:58:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    ...ill, as in psychopath.
Date: 3/16/2003 11:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 54987    Both are phony threats to the US. The Koreans have admitted to having weapons, but no one is taking them seriously. They don't have any resources we need. There is terrorism in most areas of the world... we can't tackle them all. The IRA terrorized England for years and no one went in and nuked them. Of course the only resource they have is potatoes... right? Spain has it's very own terrorist group, and south america too... You can't have a war against terrorism or we'd have to address all terrorist groups. This is a war against muslim extremists isn't it?
Date: 3/16/2003 4:41:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    Thanks for your opinion Koolaide. Maybe...just maybe the Iraqi's and N. Koreans could get sufficient food, if their misrulers gave a dang, and wern't so obsessed with their militaristic projects.
