The proper name is Sasquatch and the reason they cannot be found is due to the fact that they can smell humans miles away. Like most creatures on earth they adapt to thier enviorment for survival. In order for the sasquatch to survive they have learned they must stay away from humans. Also how many bears do you see in the wild, I have never seen one, but we know they exist right, how many bear carcasses are found in the woods, very few; because the other animals immeadiately devour the body. And the sasquatch isnt simply a he, its a they. Who knows maybe all those thousands of witnesses are all lying, I doubt it though.........Andy  |

I don't doubt that SOMETHING isn't there....I think it started as a huge hoax....and people later on just saw.....SOMETHING...and automatically said 'hey! that'd make a great story! we saw bigfoot!' LOL  |

My dad was walking around in yellowstone national park around the cabins....and he saw three bears.....two cubs and a momma.....momma actually started going after him.....we also get bears in town all the time...about a year ago we actually had two deer in our yard...:) |

Iam not sure if there really is a big foot or not..but i have wondered why they never find a big foot in the woods dead..or a corpse of him..maybe the wild animals get to him before humans do...hmmmm...nice topic though.  |

Personally I think bigfoot and all other creatures such as the loch ness monster does not exist. The only way I will think different is if I see it for myself. Yes, they have film, but I think that it is just a man in a monkey suit. So as of right now, I am not convinced that a creature such as bigfoot exists. Bigdogjra |

The sasquatch have been seen in north America for hundrends of years. The Native Americans are the people that gave it its name. The sightings didnt just start in the 1950's. Infact there is a law in California that protects these animals its called the sasquatch law. It makes it illegal to kill one. If any of you skeptics bothered to do a little research on this then you might change your opinion. Infact there is physical evidence in the form of hair. The hair was tested and the DNA made no match to any known species. There has been sightings in nearly every state in the US. The government knows all about them, infact the military have had quite a bit of problems with them in the North West at training facilities for the Special Forces. Believe what you will, but Ill bet someday someone will come forward with a body. Oh ya by the way Im the one responsible for all the UFO sightings since 1942, with that now you can put to rest UFO's as well. Get my point..........Andy |

Andy, thanks for coming clean regarding your involvement in the UFO hoax. Thanks everyone for your interestingly diverse view points. I still think Sasquatch et. al. is interdimension. It is a spirit which gathers about itself detritus from the forest floor, such as hair from animals, flesh from dead carcasses (hence the notorious stench), mud and leaves, and forms a temporary physicality for itself. when the spirit abandons the "body" that it has created for its self the debris just falls apart and goes back to nature.  |

PS: The Patterson film has never been proven to be a hoax. It is the original BF plaster cast foot prints which were made by that man in northern California that admittedly are now known and long suspected of being fake. He was aware that there was a long-standing legend of there being sightings of Sasquatch...& he just went on from there. Sure there have been other hoaxes over the years...as well as many legitimate sightings. Bigfoot is alive and well and living in a wilderness near YOU. |

I've always believed the same Triad! If you look at the native myths about these creatures they are more often then not veiwed as spiritual beings. To the native americans the sasquatch, or wendigo, etc. was seen as the incarnated spirit of certain aspects of nature. Certain tribes in the pacific northwest believed that if you look the sasquatch in the eye it can steal your spirit, further reinforcing the idea that this creature was regurded as spirtitual in nature. Also intresting is the fact that an ancient cairn has been found at the bottom of Lochness. To ancient peoples cairns, or piles of stones were used to mark sacred sites and areas were the spiritual energy of the earth was strongest and the wall between this world and the other was most eaily penetrated. I've always believed creatures such as the lochness monster and his counterparts around the world to be what are commonly called "Dragons", which have found one of the last few gateways into our world.  |

The patterson film is indeed real. Having viewed it hundreds of times....my gut tell me that this is ineed the real McCoy. This is way to real to be anything other than the genuine article. Some of us BF believers feel that he is a cryptozoological creature that is just waiting the right momemt for eventual capture, others (such as my self believe in Sasquatch as well, except that he has stron ties to the paranormal, and even access to other dimensions. Of course there are those who maintiane that Sasquatch is merely a hoax, based upon indian legends. At any rate...it is all very fascinating. |
