I havent had one Tweeti, although the Doctor recommended it..I chickened out..Im just not ready..My Mom had one when she was 23 years old..That was quite a few years ago..she went through early menopause and had a tough time keeping weight down afterwards. But healthwise, she felt MUCH better after having it done. |

haven't had one as I'm not older yet and haven't started with kiddos yet....I won't lie though with cancer in my family and the pains of af I wouldn't mind just opting to do it some point down the road.....LOL Good luck! |

My mom had one done after my little brother was born. She said she is very happy she had it done when she did. She said they thing she likes most is not having to deal with monthly pains and all that. Good Luck!! |

I'm not older but my mom had cancer and was forced to have one at the age of 25. She still get's cranky once a month and I think she went though a year of depression. But I know she enjoys not having to go buy those things we are forced to once a month. She's older now but she dose not look any less ladylike then before her surgery. Maybe she'll be on later and I'll direct her to this post. |

My mom wants one so bad she can't stand it and I don't blame her..She's going through menopause and is having a terrible time..she talked to her doc about getting a hysterectomy but the doc wouldn't do it because it would have been to dangerous for her. Anyway good luck with it Tweeti!! |

I just had my tubes tied...though I begged and pleaded for a hysterectomy...I am sorry I can't help you...but I guess it would be like the c-section, take it easy for about six weeks, no heavy lifting, lots of bedrest and no reaching high...I would think that an absense of period would be a good thing, but then, if you are close to menapause and haven't had bad periods or mood swings, you are probably in for a rolloer coaster experience...I know Mom went wacko for a while after menapause struck, but she had her hysterectomy when she was my age...I just remember her being in bed for a while and uncomfortable. The drs. will give you meds to block some of the pain caused by incision...I am rambling, hope I helped a little |

Doctors have been threatening me with it for six years now.. but I keep putting it off... Prolly cuz I worry about hormonal balances... but two of my friends had a hysterectomy and they were able to keep their ovaries... so they are not so affected by hormone problems... I wonder tho... about women that have had a hysterectomy and kept their ovaries, did they have problems ten or twenty years down the road?? |
