The torture of one for information is nothing compared to the many lives at stake of what could happen. I'm all for it. |

War is an ugly thing. But, whatever it takes to protect American lives, I am all for it! |

It seems to me that in the vast majority of cases, torture is not needed. Few men have the strength of will to resist sensory annoyances or deprivation. IMO, it's not torture to allow a prisoner four non-consecutive hours of sleep per day, or to interrogate them repeatedly to corroborate information, or to feed them the same meal for days at a time. Minor inconveniences, such as dripping water on the forehead, can have profound psychological impact over time. Brutality is therefore not needed. Is it torture if a harmless activity is repeated numerous times? In such cases, isn't torture more a matter of perception than intent? Good post! |

I agree war is a terrible thing, I would say that if millions of lives were at stake and information was definitely known by someone that could save those lives, do it. *****KrystalLynn***** |

It was in the news just yesterday. Two suspected Al Quaeda members have died while being held for interrogation by the U.S. and our allies. The article I read seemed to say that they were beaten to death. I don't think anybody really likes the idea of having to do things that way but we must do what needs to be done to stop our enemies. |

Torture isn't killing them. (even though those enduring it may pray for death) I think that it's ok to use it if you may save the lives of many others. War is an awful thing, it's never pretty. The thing is to save lives you sometimes have to do some undesirable things. In my opinion, to save the lives of Americans and other human life you can use what ever means nessesary. |

Interesting...torture and kill suspected Terrorists and its all "oh well, its for the greater good". Yet when one of your enemies does it, its all "See, see what monsters they are". To modify a quote from Apocalyse Now: "Ahhh...I love the smell of hypocracy in the morning". Peace, |

Yes in some cases I do think torture is justified, goes right along that in some cases murder is justified. |

I don't remember any of our enemies ever torturing to save lives? But if they did I guess it would be justified too. |

No, to the question of the post. Simply no. Not ever. Torture one monster and you end up with two. |
