You know, I have thought a lot about that before. I think they realized the deal with the wrists when they noticed that the figure on the Shroud of Turin was nailed through the wrists and not the palms, then did tests, and said "ahh, yea, only the wrists in that region will support the weight!" I've come up with two personal theories. One is that of Maniac. He may be on to something. The other is that spirituality does not concern itself with what is physically appropriate; if the person is spiritual enough and in touch with God, he may manifest these signs as he himself believes them to be. Maybe no one can be the source of a miracle beyond their own comprehension of reality and what they believe, and these are only supposed to be symbolic. (maybe) ~GypsyHawk~ |

An outstanding question.... I find miracles very fasinating myself... I do not blame you for being hesitant at claiming any religion including such that is so vauge... Christianity is simply believing in Christ and that he died for your sins... Pretty simplistic and although confirmed Lutheran I just claim Christianity with variants from the many but whatever... (Dogma, "better to have a good idea then to believe" The Holy Bible according to.... (Another reason that its hard to hold to it... Read 3 times and a little extra here and there :) Also read many others... To your question though.... Again, to answer your question... The Bible states that what you shall hold true on earth so shall I in heaven... Guess what its not important if this is accurate but maybe if someone feels the pain of Jesus as a headach OR>>>> Stakes through the hands/wrists is no longer important...... They still feel pain and trust that the Stigmata does indeed happen from time to time... Would you tell the world? So anyways and Remember what they decided about Jesus in the 5th Century A.D. He was fully human, fully devine and neither nature confounded the either... It was said prior in 76A.D. Dont ask how I know, we were just too dumb to remember some things then.... lol, anyways not to sound like a Bible Thumper cuz I'm not but.... Trust in what you feel you need too and God bless you always... Let me know if you have had your question answered :) Talk later, |

Hmmmmm, heres a thought... Its the son of God and he had strong hands and had not eaten right since he did that whole 40 nights in the wilderness thing and was only an 80 pound son of God.... Whatever.... Does it REALLY matter? |

I've seen a couple of documentaries where they attempt to re-inact the crucification. Their findings show that the palms may have been nailed, instead of the wrists. Most studies have shown that the palms can't support the weight of the body and wouldn't "hold up" through-out the crucifiction. Once the feet were supported (which removed a lot of the weight from the hands) the palms are believed to be strong enough.... Therefore, in answer to your question... maybe it's showing up the way it happened AND the way it's depicted in art. *shrugs* stigmata is pretty freaky, either way. |

I want to keep an open mind and bring another possibility to the table. How do we know it is not some kind of disease of the body or brain. Have people with this kind of phenomena been properly tested? As much as I want to believe in miracles I can't help but wonder if there is another cause. |

since they also drove nails through his ankles, wouldn't that bare some of the weight too? and if what Eagle Eyes said it true about him only being 80 pounds, it wouldn't be difficult for his wrists to hold up(I don't think) good luck finding the answers! |
