Being young just is no good!

Okay I have to rant...its just verging on annoying! When your a teenager you can do anything adults can do except: drink, smoke, (though they sometimes do anyways), drive in some states, work a full time job, or own a home and such... So many people don't respect teenagers (we'll say 16 years old), and ya know they have good reason to! So many teens drink and smoke and are only concerned with their life at present, and are really just no good. Its their 'experimenting' years... But jeesh thats so stereotypical and I for one am just sick of it! Their are good teens out there and I'm sick of people thinking I dont know what I'm talking about when in fact I actually may be more learned in the particular area!!! Like here on USM for one example: I may go to a debate and my opinion is just 'silly' or 'wrong' because I'm a teen. I remember I made a remark on bush and someone had a problem with it (they were pro bush, I'm anti bush) and they named reasons why bush is right. So I replied asking why saddam, why not north korea or bin laden? Ya know what? I just get an 'ungrateful teenagers who dont know what their talking about' response and my question never answered!!! I watch CNN almost daily I think I have the right to form an educated opinion! Then on religion for example, I had a debate once where someone who was on the oppisiote position couldnt stop commenting about how i was a brainwashed 'teen' who didnt know what their talking about. Me and my uncle and grandpa debate religion all the time just cuz its interesting to us. I argued the heck out of my uncle and all my points were true and right, and my grandpa agreed. Tell 1 night when somehow witches came up (I thought my religion was known to my family) and grandpa said he didnt believe in witches. Well I then explained how i was a wiccan, and the difference, and ever since grandpa has agreed with my viewpoints but i think he respects me less especially because last night he said that 'i'm to young to know and this is my religion for now until im older and i understand' or something to that effect! Now excuse me I may no be expert but if I can say things my uncle didnt even know about christianity that our true and I can prove them, I think I deserve some merit!!! Then being young is just terrible when you want to pursue a career in the industry. I'm still 15 but soon to be 16, but think of all the good auditions I missed out on because i was 1 year to young!!! Pray tell me what that has to do with anything!!! And lord getting on music I notice that when band I like following has a lot of college age and older fans. They are really sweet people and in chats or whatever when we all first meet its like 'so how old is everyone?' and everyones in their 20's and I'm sitting here at 15 and their shocked because to them 15 year olds are usually teenyboppers, not someone who is a decent smart and can see talent past looks person!!!! I hate being young! Its like you get know respect at all!!! Okay my rants over, what do you all think? Do people kinda look down their noses at younger people?-Kaja aka Queen Crazy

Date: 3/8/2003 11:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 13886    Well, I respect teenagers, really I'm not so much older than you, I'm 21. It was not so long ago that I was one. Teenagers are people as well and in my opinion should deserve equal respect to anyone else. They may lack the experience of older people, but that does not make them in any way inferior. If you want my opinion I don't particularly like the human race at all, save for a few individuals such as family, relatives, friends, and USMers. Well I hope you find more respect out there in the forums. :)
Date: 3/9/2003 12:22:00 AM  From Authorid: 53055    Kaja, I can't agree with you more. People do look down on the younger people. Even when someone young makes a point to an "adult", they just get angry or say they don't wanna talk about it anymore. Least my parents do. -_- Very good post.
Date: 3/9/2003 6:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 62048    That's all very true. My son is 16 and he has the same problems. If you want-I'll PM you his email address. He's a VERY educated, well rounded, kind of guy with what us old people call street smarts. I've seen him talk with his teachers and no sooner was his back turned than they go and grab a dictionary to find out what he was talking about. He more than likely knows more about history than most history teachers and he's also proven that. Hive me a ring-he'll get a kick out of someone that shares our view! Pookie Love
Date: 3/9/2003 6:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 35720    I go to this program for troubled teenagers at the hospital and sometimes we go for walks. Well, we see older people and I politely say "Hi!" to them and smile, and they just scowl at me, like I'm some kind of criminal! I dunno.. this post just reminded me of that.
Date: 3/9/2003 7:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 24845    Kaja, it's true that being young sucks grapes. The thing is you DO have lots more to learn. You DON'T know everything you need to know. I remember being your age and thinking that I knew a lot. Frankly, I didn't know crap. LOL. Just because you know what you know doesn't make what other people say wrong. I have noticed your comments on other posts, and I've read a few of your stories. You are very smart and seem much older than you are. I've said that myself when reading your stories and responses. I understand your frustration, but you have to take time to learn more and think more about what people try to tell you. They may know something you don't yet. I think of life as something as a trip, a journey of sorts. Along the way you pick up things to use as you go. You learn something new everyday. It's an exciting ride so buckle up.
Date: 3/9/2003 7:49:00 AM  From Authorid: 59418    I love lifeeeeeeeeeeeeee......oh, hey...don't worry,u'll get your chance in life....metal princess
Date: 3/9/2003 7:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 15998    I know how that is, I've been talked down to several times like I was a "lesser" being or something. I know PLENTY of adults that have no idea what they are doing or talking about... ever. This one guy, he has two kids. One is a girl, and the other is younger and a boy. He makes the boy sleep in a play pen in the kitchen and the girl sleep in a bedroom. He says they'll kill each other if they ever sleep in the same room. They are like 2 and 3. I know plenty of two and three year olds who sleep in the same room and are perfectly fine. None of them have died. He completely ignors his son and puts himself and his girlfriend before both of his children. I may only be 16, but I know that once you have children THEY ALWAYS COME FIRST. I'm also sure I know how to take care of children better than he does.... or even better than his girlfriend does. She's not so bright either. She worked for Burger King or something and they told her to mop the floor, so she gets the mop and bucket goes out to the floor, dips the mop in the bucket wipes it on the floor and repeats that last stape over and over. Sad thing is.... there was nothing in the bucket.... nothing at all. Not soap, not water... just air. The other sad part is that all of this is true...
Date: 3/9/2003 1:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    you will be saying the opposite in probally 10 years.. you have missed out on many a audition yes... but right now you still have time to learn... you could say i missed out on all the great concerts in the 70's becuase i wasen't born yet...you just have to prove people wrong with things like knowledge... if they say your nieve becuase you are young ask them again to answer your question...
