I am not real thrilled with him. The economy is horrible. My company alone has laid off 1350 people since November. If thing don't get better I won't have a job either. |

One cannot say Bush is not responsible for the present state of the economy. The nation's economy should be one of his highest priorities, since it directly effects every American. I have seen companies laying people off, including one local hospital that just shut down one of their wards, and laid off 150 people. Whereas 4 years ago the construction industry was booming, lately it has been in a decline. After 9-11 people were cautious about spending their expendable income, but by Christmas spending was on the rebound. Now, with the talk of war, people have once again slowed their inclination to spend. Gas prices have reached an all time high, yet the government refuses to release the national reserves. While Bush may be doing good on the international level, on the national level, and especially the economic level, I would say he rates a D+ to a C-. |

Thank you for the post, Bigtex. I've lived through the administations of nine U.S. Presidents. I remember the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. I liked Richard M. Nixon and I don't care who knows it. People may laugh at him but he was a great President. Look at all he did to improve our relations with China. George W. Bush is a fine man and a great leader of the free world. I would go so far as to rank him right up there with Ronald Reagan who had a big part in the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. I'm proud of our President. I voted for him once and I will gladly do so again with absolutely NO hesitation. May God Bless America, our troops and our allies. We will not live in fear and soon the citizens of Iraq will be free just as are those in Afghanistan thanks to our noble efforts on their behalf. Terrorism may not be a thing of the past yet and it may never be but there certainly is a whole lot we can do to put a muzzle on those animals. Thanks again, Bigtex. After having said all of that, I'm going to get my helmet because I'm bound to have drawn some fire in my direction with my remarks. |

You have very valid points there, WS, but look at all that he's been faced with almost since he stepped into office. It's hard to do everything at once. As far as gas is concerned, it is my understanding that when and if war breaks out, Saudi Arabia has agreed to help us with our oil supply. I'm sure that all will be well in the long run. |

I think he's a great president everyone forgets the reason we have declared war is because they struck us first by attacking our Twin Towers they broke the piece now we have to take control I trust bush he has done a great job so far keeping this country in order.... we are attacking the problem instead of turning our back and letting it attack us first sure war is horrible but I'd rather be in control since it's inevitable we all know it will happen sooner or later! |

You know what? We can't EXPECT the economy to be peachy keen in the face of terrorism or of a war, but the CAUSE comes before the EFFECT! George W. isn't just sitting around thinking of ways to ruin this country, he is trying to save us from a horrific terrorist attack! I don't know about you guys, but I'd say that's a heck of a lot more important than money! People who sit around complaining about what a terrible leader he is because we are going to go to war are naive. How will you feel if Hussein has managed to plant a nuke in this country that has been lying dormant for years? Waiting for THIS PARTICULAR MOMENT....when he's been given an ultimatum? When his 48 hours is up, how will it feel if he picks up the phone and says "Hey, George, there's a nuke in downtown Houston, now follow MY instructions....." How do you feel about the Hussein family torturing people simply because they LIKE to hear their screams. These men feed living human beings INTO PLASTIC SHREDDERS FOR KICKS! If a person can't see that this is a threat to be dealt with immediately (and actually should have been dealt w/ sooner, like in the last TWELVE years) then they are blind. I just can't believe there are so many people who think we should just sit by and let a brutal dictator become more and more brutal...unbelievable....I know I will probably catch hell for this reply, but man, wake up people! |

BUttafly kiss, carefull how you word what you wrote, i said soemthing similar and they jumped down my throat. Make sure your real clear that we had a terrorist attack and even though it was Idaq, we are going after terrorism in light of the attack, and Saddam fits the description. |

It is widley known Saddam harbored and trained terrorist in his own country. While they where not Al-Queda I can safely say pretty much any terroist organization in the middle east is a threat to the US. |

Frank, at present, the gas for just one of my trucks runs about $120 a week. Now, I do not have to pay that, since the company buys my fuel and maintains my truck. With 3 other trucks going to jobsites every day, our weekly fuel expedniture is near $500 a week. That gets passed on to the cunstomer. On the average 6 week construction job, we are presently adding $4000 to $5000 to cover fuel and equipment costs. Most smaller companies that wish to build cannot afford to absorb the extra cost we have to add on. I have talked with other compnaies in the area, and everyone is facing the same problem. ONB, I lived through the Vietnam War, as well as several military police actions, and the Gulf War. Through them all, the President of the country has always kept the national economy high on the priority list. One reason Nixon renewed relations with China was that he knew it would open up trade, stimulating the economy. I own a small antiques business that I run part time. I have seen a lot of people in the same business fold recently, or have to cut back drastically because of reduced spending. At present, I take over $20,000 worth of merchandise to shows almost every weekend. If the economy does not turn around soon, I may have to consider selling out since my overhead has doubled since the first talk of this war, while sales are definitely not increasing. |

I have a question....for the USMers who totally dig clintion and democrats...I pose a question. We all remember his Kosovo incident (which I totally supported by the way, even though, yes Im a republican), he didnt go and seek UN approval or anything. At least Bush tried. How come it was okay for the great Clinton to do that and try and stop the cruel treatment of Kosovo's people w. out UN approval, but Bush can't try and a)stop the cruel treatment of Iraqs people, and b)try to end terrorism. |

WS, I hope and trust that that will soon get better for you and for all in that respect. As I said, I read in the news that with Saudi Arabia's help, gas prices should go down. Whether or not that affects our own reserves, I can't say. ONB, that's a very good point. |

ahh we're putting it all aside so i will not slander anyone, so onto the debate. Bush has good intentions but is going about them the wrong way imo he's pushing to hard for war instead of listening to alternate resolutions, i agree the people of iraq need to be liberated but we should not put innocent lives in harms way |

It costs my dad about 130$ to fill is F-350 extra cab longbed. I totally think we shouldnt tap into our oil reserves. We need that for an extreme case. Saddam has killed way more civilians then we will kill in the war. And I bet the majority of innocent civilians killed in Iraq will be from Saddam. |

I don't agree with him. I read somewhere that he was ticked about Wiccan soldiers getting the same religious rights as other religions, so therefore, I don't like him. Shadow Ghost, bin Laden, like I said to many others, is still being persued hard. You just don't hear about it in the news---and for good reason! He's a lousy poker player. In this game of Tex/Hus Hold 'em, his bluff was called, and I don't think he's got an ace in the hole. Of course, I also don't think Iraq is playing with a full deck. But we've upped the ante and we're all (the WHOLE world) waiting for the chips to fall. God Bless. |
