I love good, free entertainment...This season's group of idol wanna-bes give you just that!!
I watched last year and thought, hey, I could go up against these guys...I can honestly say that this year, I wouldn't last a week against the talented teens and young adults.
We have Reubin Stutter, who Gladys Knight proclaimed would eventually become America's velvet teddy bear, a great big ol' boy with a beautiful soul and a voice like Luther Vandross.
Clay Aikens is perfect, flawless and as sweet as apple pie through and through. He appears a bit wirey, shy, maybe even a bit feminine (please forgive me)...he's a super-sensitive sweetie, but his voice, his presence and deliverance is golden...GOLDEN, I tell you!!
I'll throw a girl in here, though as a whole, the guys have a better shot at a majority standing in the top five. One girl stands out to me in paarticular. Trenyce has charisma, her voice is outstanding, and I like her everytime I see her...I think whether or not she wins the show, she has a great chance as a recording artist! She can do Whitney Houston to Diana Ross!!
I'm telling you, there are few if any bad apples in this bunch!
We have an American Soldier, Joshua Gracin who's sexy country style voice crooned the Aerosmith hit, "I Don't Wanna Close My Eyes". He dedicated it to his wife and daughter and sent it soaring with his obvious love. I would love to see him hit the top 5...he is a nice pick for an American Idol, but I must say I think he's got a lot of stiff competition with Reubin and Clay.
Rickey Smith has no problem making the crowds smile, but you can hear a pin drop when he begins to sing. ALl eyes are on Rickey as he belts out a silky smooth tenor. He is another one you don't want to miss, plus he does a great impression of Eddie Murphy :P
Kimberly Caldwell is a rockin' Texas lady with a great stage presence. I think she will be snatched up, but I don't think she's the cream of this crop. As a fellow Texan, I wish her the best, and as far as looks are concerned, the blonde bomb shell has it made...I am just not sure she will take away the crown this round. Too much top-knotch talent...Last year was kindergarten!!
Because I haven't been as impressed with the rest, I will lump them up for you. Kimberly Locke has had her ups and downs...tonight was an up, but I think she's darn lucky to still be there after last week's performance. Charles Grigsby has a great voice, but is lacking in his facial expressions...the lights are not as bright upstairs. Carmen Rasmusin has a certain technique that freaks me out everytime...it's like she uses to much air when she does it and the trapped air gives out a squeal at the end of her trick. Julia DeMato just doesn't do anything for me and Cory is so flighty that I didn't even bother getting his last name. Even though the judges didn't seem to be bothered by his performance, I found it out of tune at times, and him very, very nervous!!
Anyhow, I find I am usually in agreeance with Simon Cowell. Even though a lot of America thinks he's rude, he still has a great ear and they cannot deny that. I think Paula is just there to rub their egos, because she has a real hard time hurting peoples' feelings. Randy is cool, but I don't always agree with him. I think he is also too easy on the contestants.
I am so anxious to see the outcome this time, because it's gonna be a VERY, VERY tough decision. Have you watched it? How do you feel?
