I dont think any book should be restricted..Hiding certain things from children is a waste of time..they will eventually see the things anyway..Let them learn and learn properly..dont ban books because they dont "fit" ![]() |

i hope this site will help you with your paper. i think books shouldnt be banned because they shouldnt hide stuff from highschools they will later find those books and read them anyways or they wil just read them at home so there is no use in not letting them bring the books to school. http://www.boondocksnet.com/twainwww/banned_books.html ![]() |
| Date: 3/20/2003 7:34:00 AM ( Admin-JGB ) This is from a site about the laws regarding book banning... in June 1982, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a narrow 5-4 decision that school officials "may not remove books from school library shelves simply because they dislike the ideas contained in those books. ..." ....the pico case 1975 ... http://www.rethinkingschools.org/Archives/12_03/cenlaw.htm |

actually, this season, one of NFL's topics was community standards vs academic freedom, and book banning was apart of the heated discussion. Personally, I don't think we should ban books, unless they have like explicit content, but Im sure a lot of people will dissagree with that. That's just me....I believe in the freedom to attain knowledge of many sorts. ![]() |

I don't believe any books should be removed for the bookshelves in the libarary but I do agree that some books should not be ordered to put in a school libarary. Also I don't think a student should be limited to what he or she may bring to school for reading so long as it is a book not a trashy magazine. Common sense should be used to deside what is approitate reading material in school. Lily Fairy ![]() |

Censorship is stupid. There was a little thing called the First Ammendment written that proclaims us to have the freedom of speech. People who ban books should be dragged out in the streets and shot. (Was that too violent? Sorry, but censorship makes my blood boil!!!!!) ![]() |
