What is your one, good piece of advice to everyone? ...Smooth Criminal

If you could meet a person for just a brief moment, only long enough to give them a piece of your best advice and send them on thier way with it, what would your piece of advice be?

As pathetic as it may sound, my piece of advice would come directly from a song. "Hold on Loosely" by .38 Special! "Just hold on loosely, but don't let go If you cling to tightly, you're gonna lose control." This would remind people to never invest all of your time into one sole project because things happen and things fail. Never get crushed over one single event. So hold on loosely! But that doesn't mean you have to let go.

What is your one good piece of advice? And how, or why, can a person apply it to thier life? - Smooth Criminal

Date: 3/20/2003 5:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    and, I like that song, SC
Date: 3/20/2003 5:56:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 37101    Hi LSP! Yeah, I really like that song too. It can really help clear your mind when you're stuck in a tough situation. Thanks for dropping by. -
Date: 3/20/2003 5:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 47296    Live life one day at time, because you cannot change yesterday, and you do not know what tomorrow will bring.
Date: 3/20/2003 6:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 60052    The best piece of advice I was ever given is the one that I would pass on this was told to me by a very wise woman named Mavor, "Life isn't just about being alive, it's about experiencing EVERYTHING life has to offer both good and bad. Relish them both because because you can't appreciate the good, without experiencing the bad. For instance chocolate is always good, but after eating from a dung pile, it's value escalates, as with everything else in life."
Date: 3/20/2003 6:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    can I add one more? "I saw a man with new shoes, and I was ashamed of mine. Till I saw the man with no feet".
Date: 3/20/2003 6:01:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 37101    Hey guys, great advice! And yeah LSP, add as many as you like! The world could use a lot of good advice so if you've got some, keep it coming! :) -
Date: 3/20/2003 6:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 27270    First let me say "Excellent Post"!....My advice would be to tell your loved ones that you love them. Kiss your children, enjoy your family, and appreciate your relationships in life for it is FAR TOO SHORT and goes entirely too quickly. Kiss those babies! Kiss those grown children! Kiss that husband/wife and never ever ever let a single day go by that they don't know how much you love them...
Date: 3/20/2003 6:04:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 37101    Oh yes... Very good advice indeed Thumbelina. And thanks for the compliment! -
Date: 3/20/2003 6:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 48689    Trust in God~ He'll never let you down!
Date: 3/20/2003 6:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 54247    Keep the faith and no one can hurt you without your permission. (Of course they can physically kill you and that might hurt!) RAT
Date: 3/20/2003 6:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 25828    "look people in their eyes"..be this when you're talking to them..or walking down a hall ---anywhere, everywhere - don't hang your head, don't avert your eyes --look people in the eyes always.
Date: 3/20/2003 6:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 28899    The few times that this has actually happened to me, I've basically told people that they have no reason to do what anyone else says. "Live your life by what you believe, and recognise that others can only do the same."
Date: 3/20/2003 6:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 13609    LOL nice piece of advice! mine would be, "if your gonna be a bum, be the best bum there is" hahaa
Date: 3/20/2003 6:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 25828    how or why? well, many don't do that, and it is seen negatively - if you look people in their eyes they assume you have confidence whether you do or not - looking someone in their eyes is saying, i am on your level - you are not above me. people avert their eyes when they feel inferior in some way - - - and don't think 'shyness' is an excuse, because all shyness is is a feeling of inferiority..or lack of self confidence ---try it, and you'll see, whether you have confidence or not - it will come.
Date: 3/20/2003 6:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 37101    Here's another one of my own,"Never lie. Lying will ruin a persons credibility. Always remember that trust is hard to earn and easy to lose." It's a very hard thing to follow but it's true! -
Date: 3/20/2003 6:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 37101    Well SilverWolf... the optimism is something to be admired. LOL! -
Date: 3/20/2003 6:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 53013    No matter how bad life seems, it could be worse. Live life to the fullest.
Date: 3/20/2003 6:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 53013    Nothing can hold you down unless you let it.
Date: 3/20/2003 6:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    "We all climb in our bluejeans, one leg a a time". No one person is superior to another.
Date: 3/20/2003 6:16:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 37101    Not me LSG. I prop the blue jeans open, hang them from a clothesline, get on a ladder and jump into them BOTH legs at a time. Yep, it's really time for me to go to bed now. LOL! -
Date: 3/20/2003 6:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    LOL@ SC-I am too old for such areobics now!
Date: 3/20/2003 6:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 35114    Hmmm...always remember to wash your hands.
Date: 3/20/2003 6:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    I would tell them "To Live in The Hearts of Those You Love, Is Not to Die." It is a quote that is written on a grave marker for my family's plot. I basically means to live life to the fullest and make sure that those you love know it while you are alive. There's a bit more to it if you read behind the lines. :)
Date: 3/20/2003 6:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 20956    Live everyday as though it is your last, cause you never know whats around the corner
Date: 3/20/2003 6:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    LISTEN well. Stay alert; pay attention. If you don't have a good sense of humor; get one and hone it well. Always be honest with yourself first, and then others; always no matter what.
Date: 3/20/2003 6:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 55040    Stay real to yourself, and don't regret the past, learn from it--
Date: 3/20/2003 6:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 47699    I would tell them my view on the secrets of life. It's really very simple. Live, laugh, love and learn. Approach each day as though it were your last. Seize the moment and leave this world with no regrets.

Date: 3/20/2003 7:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 53055    My best piece of advice would be the following: "Always, no matter what, look both ways before crossing the street." :p lol Fun post. :)
Date: 3/20/2003 7:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Hello Smooth Criminal :) There is a saying that I read in one of Hunter S Thompson's books. It goes: "When the going gets weird..the weird turn pro." I've always liked it. My own translation would be: "I can do anything...if I have to." Good idea for a post. Write on...:)
Date: 3/20/2003 7:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    Don't eat yellow snow.
Date: 3/20/2003 8:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 24845    My peice of advice to anyone who would care would be. Love life. Life is so short, in no time at all it's over. Take time to stop and look at the sky, look at the trees blowing in the breeze, smell honeysuckle and KNOW that you are a smaller peice of a larger puzzle. It's important to me to think that there's more to life than work, and struggle. Why would I do this. Simply put. Life is too short. On your grave stone would you want it written. "wish I'd spent more time at work" ?
Date: 3/20/2003 8:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 39258    Everything happens for a reason.
Date: 3/20/2003 9:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 855    I would have to say,to look what's inside the person, not what they look like from the outside.

Date: 3/21/2003 1:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 26452    It depends on the situation, but I'd probably say no matter what happens, life goes on.
Date: 3/21/2003 7:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 54247    WOW Heather - "look people in the eyes" - that, dear is a KEEPER! Rat
Date: 3/21/2003 7:09:00 AM  ( Admin-JGB )   TRUTH... I would tell anyone and everyone, that lying even a little, beats the self esteem, causes depression, and makes confusion where there doesn't need to be any... Having the guts to be truthful, makes you a more respectable person, with a happier outlook... imho :)
Date: 3/21/2003 7:12:00 AM  ( Admin-JGB )   wow some great advice here!!!
Date: 3/21/2003 7:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 53560    I'd tell them to slow down and appreciate everything...to quote John Lennon, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."
Date: 3/21/2003 12:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 51070    (For when you have a problem) "Handle it!"
Date: 7/30/2003 7:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 58078    Just be yourself and don't change for anyone.
Date: 8/17/2006 2:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 62927    Don't loose your trust. If it gets taken away, use faith and get it back as soon as you can.
