Ummmmmmm......do you feel that if someone did NOT support this war that they would be unpatriotic? Just a question. Not stating here whether I am for or against the war! Love and Light |

I am not American...nor do I support this War (without UN backing)...while I may be vocal about my feelings against this war, I do support those brave souls who are fighting it. They need all our support, prayers, thoughts and wishes for a safe and speedy return. We may debate politics, the ins-and-outs of the whole situation...but one thing really needs to be constant...and that is a united concern for the welfare of all involved. Peace, |

I Have friends over there right know from my old unit. If I didn't request to be an MSG I would be over there right now fighting with them. To answer your question about the people opposing this war. Yes I think their unpatriotic, I think all those protestors should go to Iraq and live under Saddams rule and see first hand what we're stopping. The US is fully justified by going into Iraq and if you don't see that then you don't have a clue at what going on and need to do more research of all events leading up to this point in time. I think that all the people around the world are'nt paying any more attention to actual events taking place and not the rumors that are spread or the news cause their just as evil as the man we're trying to over throw. |

By the way, do you know that song by Toby Keith "Courtesy of the Red White and Blue"? It is SO GOOD and makes a person feel super patriotic. I don't hear much about that song, and I think it is the best of all those that came out after Sept.11. Love and Light (We just got through listening to it again!!! If you haven't heard it, download it and listen! If I had to go into battle, that is the song I would want to hear playing! |

Devildog, I assume by reading your post that because you feel that THIS war is justified that you feel that means you are patriotic. But, if YOU FELT that the US going into a war (any war, some other war, as in, we just decided to go to war with Italy for some reason) was NOT justified, would that make you unpatriotic? What I am trying to say is that I feel that people are free in this country to express their views; that is what liberty grants you. Now, if the draft was still in effect, and a "protestor" refused to serve this country, as was their duty, then THAT, to me, would be unpatriotic, and they should be asked to leave this country. I don't especially feel that paying income taxes is "justified", but if I am to stay in America, I must do that duty (though it is said that you can legally NOT pay taxes, but I wouldn't know how). The point being, we, as Americans, can "feel" however we want about the decisions that our leaders make; that is our freedom. But, when called upon to "DO" our duty, we have no choice. You either do your part, or get out! Love and Light |

I just truly hope the liberation of the Iraqi people are truly at the heart of this matter. I'm just sorry that the people of Iraq couldn't make it happen themselves, and hopefully the lives lost will not be unnecessary. love, |

Yeah, LW! These Fourth of July fireworks are being brought to them courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. From what I'm hearing on the TV right now, the Iraqi military is surrending in massive numbers. LOL! Who would have thought? Maybe they're French. Who knows? |

I think its great the military's surrendering. It means less bloodshed. Who cares if its an embarrassment or reflecting the French??? Less violence YAY!!! What will happen if all the military surrender.. what will the opposing forces in Iraq do..? Just look for Saddam? |

You do realize that by calling anti-war protesters unpatriotic because they question the actions of their government, you are also calling anyone in history that stood up to their government when they felt something was wrong, unpatriotic. Examples: Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, Henry David Thoreau, Gandhi, Daniel Ellsberg. It's not a question of wheather or not anti war protesters love their country, it's only a matter of not agreeing with the way the situation is being handled. I love my country. But no, I do not like Bush. I didn't like him in 2000 and I really don't like him now. |

Well to answer all thows who question or say why I'm calling those people unpatriotic. Here it is. My friend Webster defines a patriot as " ONE WHO LOVEs HIS COUNTRY AND SUPORTS ITS AUTHORITY AND INTERESTS". Now I think that would explain all the confusion. If your protesting the War through protest, YOu are protesting the Authority and the Interests of the Country in a whole which makes you unpatriotic. Thank You very much. |

I dont care if people are against the war. My problem is that the Police have to spend so much time monitoring the Protest and make sure they dont get out of hand that it takes them away from protecting the Public from potential terrorism. |

It is wrong to call someone unpatriotic because they do not support this war. I am a firm believer in suportting the troops in any endeavor, having served half my life in the service myself. Like many other veterans, I do not necessarily agree with all that our government does, and the way they do it. That does not make me an unpatriotic person, as my oath of service was to the Constitution of this country, to protect and defned this country, and to follow the lawful orders of those who were above me. I do not agree with the tone of many of the protesters, but understand their "right" to protest a war they feel we were not justified under intertnational law in starting. I have a cousin in theatre right now. He was also there in the first Gulf War. I will fully support him, as well as the friends and former comrades in arms that I know to be there, along with all the rest of our troops. I will reserve judgement of Bush and the actions of our politicians, since history will prove whether or not he was right or wrong, regardless of how justified he may have been. |

DevilDog, that definition does seem to support your stand, but there is also the definition of patriotism which is love of and devotion to one's country, which is not quite so pointedly saying laws and leaders. But, I do respect your feeling; there is something that is a "not right" feeling about seeing these protestors rallying "after the fact". If the protests had been going to accomplish anything, it would have been BEFORE the military action started. Once action started, it is time for protests to stop, and support for our troops of men and women to begin. Their psychological well-being is affected by our attitudes, our energy, and the energies we are sending into the world. Love and Light |
