This Isn't A Debate But I'm Sure It Will Turn Into One ¤Frankenstein¤

I HATE SPORTS. I loathe and despise them. I'm sure that I'm in the vast minority there but it's how I feel and how I've always felt. I see them as nothing more than a waste of time and money. It reminds me of the old saying, "Those who can't do, teach." In my opinion, those who can't play, watch. Why? I can't see what satisfaction could possibly come from watching a bunch of buffoons running around like maniacs for no good reason at all. My dad likes to watch football and he can't really tell me why. He just says that he enjoys it. He dropped out of the same high school that I graduated from but he still, at the age of seventy-one, goes to every one of their games. I'll swear I can't see what he could possibly get out of watching a bunch of teenagers in Halloween costumes beating the living crap out of each other. Even if I didn't feel that way, I still would be appalled that many of those who participate make a whole lot more money than doctors, emergency workers, fire fighters, teachers and even the President of the United States. I like movies, music and some TV shows but the same goes for entertainers. It just shows that we have aren't prioritizing things very well and that the public, in general, has more money than sense. The outrageous figures some celebrities make is simply sickening. Do you realize that the Olsen twins made over a BILLION dollars last year alone? For what? What could two teenaged girls possibly do that would be worth over a BILLION dollars? Do you really realize just how much money that is?

We don't have cable TV or a satellite receiver. We have six stations and that's it. Why are there times when that junk is on every channel that we have? I sometimes think, okay, there's nothing on that worth watching so I'll listen to the radio. Wrong! It's on my favorite station there as well. There's no escaping it. When is the last time you ever saw televised sports of any kind interrupted, delayed or cancelled altogether because of a good movie? Never! You've never seen that because it's never happened and it you won't be seeing it because it never will happen. That's one of the many reasons I love this computer. Sports are never here because I won't let them be. I have a world of options.

What is it about all of that nonsense that makes some people of all ages act like their two years old? Why do they jump out of their seats and scream? Heck, some of them even resort to physical violence out of passion. It's only a stupid game, folks. Get over it. Why do some of them wager and lose their hard-earned money? I think you either love sports or you hate them. Personally, I hate them and will avoid them at all costs. With that being said, let the games begin.

Date: 4/12/2003 6:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    it really sickens me when a player for team x decides to leave the team to go to team y because team y offered them two extra million dollars.....when they were already making 15 million per year *rolls eyes*
Date: 4/12/2003 6:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 20750    I don't do sports or windows!
Date: 4/12/2003 6:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 57404    What these sports players make is sickening, however I am a Steelers fan! The only sport I watch is football, but only when the Steelers are playing. To me, when players switch teams because of money, it makes me realize, there is no loyalty. It is all about money.
God Bless

Date: 4/12/2003 6:24:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    I know, Becky, it sickens me as well.
Date: 4/12/2003 6:24:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    I'm with you, MG.
Date: 4/12/2003 6:27:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    CW, all of this team loyalty is something that I can't understand at all. You mentioned the Steelers. That would make sense if you were from Pittsburgh or even Pennsylvania but what of those in Florida who feel that same way that you do? Why?
Date: 4/12/2003 6:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 28946    My brothers and I never got into sports. My son does like to watch wrestling and that is not really a sport but a choregraphed something instead. I'd rather watch a good movie.
Date: 4/12/2003 6:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 54247    I love sports - my husband doesn't. My hometown loved our H.S. football games. Year I started, we hadn't won a game in years. Then our new coach appeared, an ex-Navy man: "Size doesn't matter, it's what's in your head!" he told the team. First year, he also taught girls Phys Ed - and was very angry because he said we cheered at the wrong times at games. So, we had to learn about kicking, running, etc. (never tackling). Our school won every game - many times the others were bigger. Norris Patterson taught sports with honor. He would never have allowed the prancing and bragging you see today. Thanks, Frankenstein, for remember yesterdays. RAT
Date: 4/12/2003 6:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 40881    LoL..I hear ya I used to HATE sports, my husband never watched them either.. it's one of the things I used to brag about to my friends..while there husbands were couch potatoes every Sunday. That was until 2 years ago when my son started playing Football.. (his own idea) he has been the Captin for 2 years, won state in wrestling this year, and also plays baseball... so because of that, I have started to understand sports more.. and I do get out of my seat like a 2 year old, jump and scream!! LOL
Date: 4/12/2003 6:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 24845    LOL. That is so true. I'm not much a sport fan myself. I don't see the big deal. Like you said it's just a game. It's nothing for you to kill someone over. (The violence) I agree

Date: 4/12/2003 6:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 53961    I'm with you Frank. I would much rather watch a cooking or home improvement show on Saturday afternoon than sports, sports and more sports! They should have one channel for sports nd it should be on cable. It's just wrong to take up all three major networks with sports on the weekend. If it's not sports then it's those stupid paid commercial programs! ARGH! And the radio problem, I just come online and find my favorite music or talk radio. Nice...
Date: 4/12/2003 6:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    Well I have to agree with you on most sports. I do like some though and I enjoy playing some too.
Date: 4/12/2003 6:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 28946    OOPS!!! I am wrong! I love watching Ballroom Dancing and didn't know it was considered a sport. Also, ice skating is beautiful to watch. But the home improvement/cooking/learning channels have my attention.
Date: 4/12/2003 6:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 55970    I can't stand watching sports, but I like to play soccer *hugs* Love always, ~Tara~
Date: 4/12/2003 6:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    I HATE SPORTS TOO!!! I HATE THE AWFUL SOUND OF THE ANNOUNCERS CONSTANTLY IN THE BACKGROUND...I HATE THAT GAMES HAVE TO BE AT LEAST 3 HOURS LONG...I HATE HOW MANY THERE ARE AND THAT MY STUPID HUSBAND WOULD RATHER WATCH THEM ON TV THAN PLAY THEM WITH MY BOYS...I'm with you Frank...thanks for the chance to rant!!! I COULD SAY MORE!!!!!
Date: 4/12/2003 6:54:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Penny, I'm puzzled, too. What qualifies something as a sport? Chess is a game but it certainly isn't a sport. I feel the same way about dancing and bowling, etc. They call professional wrestling a sport but it's nothing but pure entertainment. It's so pre-planned and choreographed. It's just like a big soap opera to see who the bad guy is now and vice versa.
Date: 4/12/2003 6:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Ice skating isn't a sport, either. It's just a form of dancing in my opinion.
Date: 4/12/2003 6:56:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Thanks, SC.
Date: 4/12/2003 6:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    *sheepishly reenters* oh...uh, I do like ice skating?! is that a sport?
Date: 4/12/2003 7:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 53961    I think if there's a score then it's a sport. So if it's ice skating contests, then yes. But for Ice Capades, etc. no.
Date: 4/12/2003 7:04:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Sports! Good God, ya'll! What are they good for? Absolutely nothing! Say it again... LMAO!
Date: 4/12/2003 7:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 60018    I like to play sports but watching them can be really boring! I hate when people yell at the screen, it's not like they can hear you anyway!
Date: 4/12/2003 7:07:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Making out in the back seat of a car is more of a sport than skating or bowling. In can be a challenge and, if you score, it will really mean something to you.
Date: 4/12/2003 7:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 44850    i like sports.
Date: 4/12/2003 7:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    wahoo, backseat luvin'...where can I sign up?! :O
Date: 4/12/2003 7:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    I hate sports so much that if I had a choice between sports and becoming a witch LOL, guess which one I would choose? LOL, Right neither, I'd cut my own throat and be done with it.
Date: 4/12/2003 7:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    Frankie, you know my feelings about sport..but I'll tell you what I do like to watch, swimming, athletics..like in running etc, ball room dancing, thats about it...and thats the reason there is more than one television in our home...Teddles can watch all the sport he likes!!!!lol!!!!hugs
Date: 4/12/2003 7:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    I understand you, I don't have cable either so there is nothing but sports to watch, especially one the weekends. And I don't like to watch sports, no one in my family does either and I'm glad for that. If I was forced to watch sports though, I would choose hockey or boxing because I like watching people fight. But watching people fight is always better in real life when the people fighting aren't professionals. Like watching my little twin brothers fight each other is more entertaing then any sports I've ever seen on tv.
Date: 4/12/2003 7:29:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    LOL!
Date: 4/12/2003 7:30:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Thanks, Alien.
Date: 4/12/2003 7:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 28190    <-- Hates Sports... I use to like them, but they really get old. Nowadays the only game I watch is the Alabama (crimson Tide) and Auburn (tigers) football game against each other. And that's Only on Once a year that I am PROUD of.. Now if ya consider WWE wrestling as a sport.. My fiancé Love it.. LOL
Date: 4/12/2003 7:38:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    Amanda, WWE is as much of a sport as General Hospital and One Live To Live are.
Date: 4/12/2003 8:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    funny, I have compaired the relationship in soaps to tennis
Date: 4/12/2003 10:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 59418    i like playin soccer, it gives you a chace to accidently on purpose kick the people you hate
Date: 4/12/2003 10:35:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47699    LOL @ Suzy! :O
Date: 4/13/2003 4:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 53558    Hate sport too, Frankenstein. Just hearing the word 'Sport' sends my pulse racing and my heart pouding. I am soaked in sweat just reading this post. Lol
Date: 4/13/2003 8:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 61912    Wow, couldnt agree more with you Frankenstein. To me watching sports on tv is like watching flies ****.....any way I also cant stand it when the conversation at work turns into sports, and if its not professional its even worse local sporting events........Glad to see Im not alone here.........Dr. Howitzer
Date: 4/13/2003 12:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    ok...now for the debate Frank, I can't believe you could say you hate sports...being involved in sports helps a young child's self esteem and teaches them the meaning of team work. Sports offers rewards and discipline and gets fat kids off the couch and out on the field sweating, LMBO!! I just had to
Date: 4/13/2003 9:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 22721    I like the sports where the men wear tight uniforms.
Date: 4/14/2003 5:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 40530    *shrugs* I don't like the competitiveness which goes with sports. I love just thwacking a ball down a pitch, or bouncing on a trampoline, but when it gets competitive....urgh
Date: 5/2/2003 6:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 6915    I can't totally agree w/ that...i like some sports...hockey, b-ball, and of course track. its physical activity and provides people with something to do, other than get into trouble. it pushes people to reach past their limits and strive to be the best
