ROAD SHOW
(Checking Out the 'Hood)
Sitting here in my front porch swing
Just checking out the 'hood . . .
Catching up on what's going down,
All the bad news and the good.
Now there goes Lester "Better-than-you-all"
Cruising in his red sport's car.
He comes down here where the poor folks live
So he can feel sup-er-i-or.
... Comes Peg and Jim with little Tim,
Ain't neither got a clue . . .
Kissing and fighting, strolling hand-in-hand,
Out of money, out of work, out of school.
Can't buy little Timmy no diapers,
But they always seem to find a cigarette,
Or a sometimes beer or some other cheer . . .
So their money hasn't run out yet.
Now, there's the best dang guy in the whole darn town,
Over mowing his neighbor's yard.
He helps everyone and he judges none . . .
Gotta wonder how he works so hard.
There goes Cartoon Jack (some call him a Geek)
He's alright when he lives alone.
But when he gets with Jane he goes insane,
So it's better if she just stays gone.
It's a daily chore doing what I do . . .
Just checking out the neighborhood.
It's a real Road Show to watch them come and go
Making news . . . some bad . . . some good.
