Sweet memories flood my mind.
Memories of the one I left behind.
I miss him more with each passing day.
I miss his beautiful loving way.
He was my first and only love.
An angel sent straight from above.
I find myself remembering his gentle touch.
Within his arms I felt so much.
His tender kisses that once crossed my lips.
Those baby blue eyes, took me on so many trips.
Trips to a world filled with so much mystery.
I always thought our love would go down in history.
The first time we made love, it was so pure.
The test of time, our love would endure.
Somewhere along the way we slipped apart.
The only he took with him was my heart.
To share such a love, only to have it taken away.
It's been so many years, and I think of him still today.
I've spent the past sixty years alone.
My soul hopelessly trying to find a home.
I lived each day hoping he would come back.
Here I am now slipping into a lifeless black.
My health isn't what it used to be.
I can feel the death settling into me.
I lay here in this cold empty bed.
He is the only thing running through my head.
My only wish is to see him just once more.
But I fear that death is too close to my door.
I can't hold on any longer, so I'm going to let go.
