use a flea spray or powder specifically designed for the purpose. You can get both from your veterinarian. |

sorry....my cat sat on the keyboard and deleted half of that first answer! I also said that you can get drops from the vet to apply to the back of your cat's neck or medicine to put in it's food which will give protection against fleas for up to a month. |

Raid makes flea traps too... sticky paper with lights and the fleas are attracted to the light... you put it under the bed... |

Hmm here in the south we use Seven Dust. Sprinkle it on the floor and wait a few hours then vaccuum and throw away the bag promptly. Takes away adults and impregnates the eggs with poison. I even dust the cats every month or so along with the dogs. Just grab the cats put them in a paper bag pour in seven dust and shake. Watch the white fluff ball run across the yard. And every summer or once in June and once in July I seven dust the entire yard to rid it of grubs and fire ants. |

I'm the world's foremost expert on flea invasion, having dealt with it a few times in the past. Ugh. First, if you have animals, you have to get them out of the house and use a flea bomb from the vet's office..the kind that kills both the flea AND the flea eggs. That is very important. Then, you have to treat your animals for fleas with something like Advantage that will kill off the nasty little critters completely. Get rid of any bedding in your cat or dog's bed also. If you don't do all of this, ...they'll be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! |

Incidently, if your cats go outside, you might have to also get an outside spray and treat the lawn. Good luck. |

SongBird>>>That's kinda what we did. First we grab the kittens out of the house and we used 5 bombs. One made for fleas and eggs and the other for other bugs as well for fleas. After the air was aired out, we vaccumed the whole house. We gave the kittens a flea bath the next day, we probably should of done it right away but it was really late and I had to work in a couple hours and it takes 3 people to wash these kittens. LOL! The kittens don't have a bedding, they sleep anywhere they want and they're always indoor. |

get a pie pan or a small shallow pan - fill it with some water and put it in the middle of your floor - when you go to tbed at night turn on a bright light right beside of the pan - the fleas will be attracted to the light and hop in the water and drown - my grandma swears by this and she had a really bad flea problem for a while - you will have ot keep doing it till all the fleas hatch and die |

First off, are they itty bitty little fleas? Is someone doing any type of building in your area with sand? Try to get Advantage from the vet to put on your pets and that will help break the flea life cycles. Also, we used to put out bowls of ammonnia out and the fleas would jump in and drown. You have to be careful of your pets not getting to the bowls though. |

Penny....I think that they're different sizes. I don't have any sand around my house. I'm going to go to the vet when I have more money. Yea, I'm not too sure about the bowl thing. I'd be afraid of the kittens getting into it. But I can probably put it in my bedroom because I dont let them in there. |

Fleas are one of the hardest things to get rid of but bombing does work. When my kids were little, we started to move in this place and as soon as I walked in, I was a covered head to toe with fleas. I ran out fast and the landlord thought I was nuts untill he saw his shirt and pants. He went and bought a fogger for every room in the house and within 48 hours, the fleas were gone. I hope you can get rid of them too. The ammonnia does work but it isn't good to breathe the fumes. |

Fumes...We did about 5 bombs in the house and we still have some fleas. I guess we're gonna have to do it again. We bought some extras just in case. Hopefully the next time it will get all the fleas. |
