from what i know pick up a good grass seed that states on the bag that is 100% grass seed no weed in them.... you do just sprinkle them ontop butyou sprinkle them evenly depending on the size of the yard you may want to rent somethign to spread them out right.... as for waterying.. just turn on the sprinkler move it around every few hours give it some time... the bag usually tells you how much water to use and when it's safe to cut(usually 4-6 weeks) you'll also want to mark off the lawn with sticks and the coloured plastic tape |

putting hay on the seeds also helps keep birds and stuff from eating them. It worked for us. Good luck. |

The purpose of the straw is to keep the seeds covered and damp so that they will grow. Otherwise, you will be wasting most of your seed. It is good to rake the dirt to loosen it before you sow the seeds. Pick up any rocks that will likely hit the mower blade at this time, too. It's much better to use straw than hay. Straw doesn't contain weeds, while hay is basically anything that was growing in the field at the time of cutting. By the way, September is considered to be the best month for sowing grass, but late winter is good too, such as Feb or March. |

62141...Thanks for the tip. I still haven't been able to work in my backyard. Need to still get rid of weeds back there. Most of them are gone. We have a lot of rocks back there too, so we gotta get those out of the way as well. Thanks |
