End Of The Rainbow
There’s a land called “End of the Rainbow,” at the end of every day,
Where dreamers with their fantasies hold reality at bay.
Dreams rule at the end of the rainbow in that wonderful land of Nod.
And things come true we could never do where reality rules like God.
I have longed for the end of the rainbow and the treasure buried there,
Where folks never rue the things they do and magic fills the air.
I’ve been to the end of the rainbow and tasted its magic breeze.
I have bathed there in its healing wells, cured heartaches and disease.
But I’ll bid adieu to the rainbow when each morning I return
To the land of Stark Reality with the lessons I have learned.
For a man needs to feel things that are real, like pain that cuts to the bone,
Or the heavenly bliss of a passionate kiss from the lady that shares his home.
It’s good to escape to the rainbow and renew your soul with rest.
But the things that remain for eternity must pass reality’s test.
And we all slip off from reality when the night over-rules the day,
But our dreams won’t last without the grasp of the toil and the moil we pay.
And it’s good to escape reality when Night casts her shadowed hue.
But we need to play in the light of day, or our dreams never will come true.
