I need something to read!!! <regretfulhalo>

I am a huge fantasy fan and I love to read. Lately, I have been picking up books and finding they are absolute crap!! I am hoping that one of the many bookworms at USM can point me in the direction of some decent books that I haven't read. I enjoy horror too and off the wall stuff like Fight Club. I also like comics and am looking for a decent seris to start. But I'll read anything except westerns and romance novels(nothin' wrong with em, just not for me.) Please help! Here's what I have read that has stuck with me: George R.R Martin Neil Gaiman: novels and comics. Robert Jordan, not the whole series yet: but isn't he a little long winded? Laurell K Hamilton: everything. Davis Eddings: I have read everything of his. Lloyd Alexander: underrated but still one of the best. Jennifer Roberson: some stuff. Chuck Palahnuik: author of Fight Club. Yeah, I read Stephen King. The Preacher Comics and Harry Potter.

Those are some of my favorites. If anybody has any suggestions of anything that they enjoyed, please.....please, please suggest it my way. Reading is one of my favorite things to do! Please help!! I am a interesting plot junkie, I am an addict I admit! Won't you help feed my fix?????

Date: 7/10/2003 5:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 49091    I know of 3 books I really enjoyed. They arent fantasy, but they are really good. One is called: "Cut" By Patricia McCormick second one is called: "Pure Sunshine" (I don't remember the author) and the third one is called: "Things Not Seen" By Andrew Clements. I found a great interest in these three books. Normally I don't read at all because like you said some of these books are "crap" and just not interesting at all. Good Luck!!

Date: 7/10/2003 6:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 20956    If you like fantasy books then the series that i am reading now is for you!! The actual series is called "The Witches of Eileen" and they are by Kate Forsythe (sp) ... they are fantastic, honestly! You just cant put them down. Its an adult fantasy series to do with witches, warlocks, dragons, etc. Really brilliant :)
Date: 7/10/2003 7:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 13897    Sara Douglass- the Wayfarer Redemption series.. THE BEST in fantasy that I have read... Also Ray Bradbury is a great author (I suggest Farenheit 451- sci fi) and Kurt Vonnegut (Slaughterhouse Five- also sci fi)... mmmm and George Orwell (1984 and Animal Farm are both great)... so there are my suggestions.
Date: 7/11/2003 9:56:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62222    Sun Angel, I have seen that series but have not picked it up, I will give it a try!

Date: 7/11/2003 9:57:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62222    I have read Clockwork Orange, HHGTTG, and The great gatsby..I am in the middle of A Farewell to Arms, but I am finding I don't like it much...
Date: 9/2/2003 1:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Hiya regretfulhalo :) Have you read, "Lord Foul's Bane," by Stephen Donaldson. It's the beginning of a fine (in my opinion, anyway, fantasy series)..On the horrible side, you might like "the Necroscope series," by Brian Lumley. See ya :)
Date: 9/19/2003 7:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 61928    NO!!! Not the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant!! Ack cough cough. Read the Riftwar Saga by Feist, read the Death Gate Cycle by Weis and Hickman, read Shannara by Brooks when you're done with those I'll have more suggestions.
