We always get separate checks here, so I assumed that is what everyone did.. and to top it off I had a check card, no cash so someone I don't even KNOW had to pay my tab... I had a dollar which I gave her. Argh... I'm cranky about it...  |

Well, if i eat five dollars worth of food, that's what I give to the tab...whether people like it or not. Depending on the friend, we will evenly distribute the bill but that's because we know it will all work out in the future. You pay more now, I'll pay more later...that sorta thing. I'd be upset too.  |

Most of the time, where I work, we all cover our own tab. Even if it's one check you put in for the cost of your food and tip. I hate it when they just split the tab. I don't usually eat a big lunch so I would definitely get the short end of that stick.  |

When I eat out in a group, we always split the bill with who got what, I think its better that way, you pay for what you ordered, not what someone else ordered. That would have.. frustrated me! 12 bucks for a 5 dollar meal?!  |

Well I usually only go out with my sisters or my best friend...with my sisters I usually pay just for myself and my kids if they are there...if I go with my best friend she almost always insists on picking up the check even if I tell her I got it or at least got my portion. I dont want to make a big deal out of it cause I know I help her out too like I will watch her three year old while she does laundry so she can get it done faster or if she cant find a sitter when she has an appointment I will go with her and keep them occupied. I would have requested a seperate check in your case though. That does not seem right to me  |

We always get separate bills, I also learned the hard way! Now I only pay for what I ordered. Sometimes they get annoyed, but hey I have no money tree in my back yard.  |

We always divide it evenly. It doesn't bother me. Sometimes if someone is low on money, we will even leave them out of the split.  |

Well if we ask another couple out....we usually pay the bill in full ourselves...however....that is for only two couples that are really close friends....my hubby might ask some of his work buddies to go or I might ask some of my own friends...or visa versa...that is when we will split the tab  |

we just pay for what we actually eat...and drink...but we say that before we order ...in front of whoever is there...its not a matter of being a miser but with the cost of eating out now, it can be hard for everyone....next time hun, just say that you are paying for your own...better that way to let them know from the start....hugs hun...MIL  |
