i just got a phonecall... from a Credit card company(one i don't think i have ever heard*L*) they wanted to offer my partner a PLATINUM MASTERCARD... i told him that he wasen't intersted then asks if he has other cards i say yes and he trys to tell me more about the card... i asked him "do you really think it's a smart move offering a credit card to a person who is unemployed?" and he says "we have in the past" he even mentioned giving them to people on social sucurity and medical assistance...personally i think it's really stupid on thier part to even be offering a credit card to someone who is unemployed i guess they see otherwise...

What's your thoughts?? personaly i find it very amusing... he actually even hung up on me!

Date: 7/11/2003 1:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 53284    I would have to agree with you on this one. Both my kids are in college and they get a bunch of pre-approved credit card offers each month. HELLO, they're in college. They can't pay at lease till they graduate and then find a job. So all those mailing just go straight to the schreder. For a while I was taping the self addressed postage paid envelopes to a brick then putting them back in mail boxes but that didn't seem to have any effect and I ran out of bricks.
Date: 7/11/2003 1:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53052    hey thats a good use for them... i just send them back to them i rarely get the mailings though... and hte phonecall i looked at hte number on the call display and this is the second time they have called... oh well i wasen't in a pissy mood and sorta laughed at him on the phone....
Date: 7/11/2003 2:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 53013    If they will give credit cards to people pets or very young people, why not the unemployed..LOL!! I agree with you on this one!
Date: 7/11/2003 2:13:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53052    heck! he even tried asked ME if i wanted one!
Date: 7/11/2003 2:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    I don't think I ever get any phone calls from Credit Card peoples. Mostly it's about long distance. I always get them in the mail though. I don't plan to ever use a credit card, maybe in the future though.
Date: 7/11/2003 2:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 16705    i get offers in the mail all the time trying to get me to get a credit card i just cut them up cause they're not worth the headache. Hamb918
Date: 7/11/2003 2:28:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53052    they are good to start earning credit they are the top place to start(so you can have credit in the future to take out bank loans to buy a car or get a mortgage with a good rate) but to offer them to people who can't pay them is just very stupid on thier part... it's like they want a person to go into debt and delare bankruptcys
Date: 7/11/2003 2:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 44321    Sure they give people the cards who can't pay but the minimum payment each month, and then they kill you in the having to pay it all back area, you buy gas with it and that same gas you are paying for a year later :)you get the idea lol. Some see credit cards as easy money and don't think of what they are doing when they max it out and then don't want to pay it off,or can't pay any payments.
Date: 7/11/2003 2:35:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53052    medusa that i know!! i think it's that we just got a mortgage...
Date: 7/11/2003 2:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 44321    You know we are renters and for some reason we keep getting letters addressed to my hubby asking him to take a mortgage out on our home,I don't know where they got our name and why they think we are homeowners LOL
Date: 7/11/2003 3:34:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53052    medusa i know that feeling!
Date: 7/11/2003 4:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    It's actually a smart move on their part, because they are going to get the money any way they can. They target young/unemployed people & people who might spend a lot hoping they will be generous with their purchases and late with their payments so they can stick on extra charges. If they get people, like my father, who can easily pay off any of the bills they don't have a chance to get extra money off of him.
Date: 7/11/2003 6:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53052    alien yes and no... the basically want to see people fail for thier own profit
Date: 9/27/2003 8:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 13283    Those telemarketers or customer service reps go overboard trying to give you a card ! No means no . You answer the telephone and 'BAM' they extoll all the virtues of having a new credit card . I try to say not interested and they go on for another five minutes . I was told saying you are unemployed was a good way to get rid of them . I guess that dont work any more . :( Razzy aka
