New job...Gentel Breeze

I have been at my current job for almost 9 years, and things are getting reeeally rough. See a couple of years ago the management decided it was best for the company to get rid of my boss. Well, his replacement is such a creep. At that time I had been a supervisor for a year. At first I tried to go with the flow, he had many different ideas which I support. Change can be a good thing. Well just the other week I heard from a co-worker that I was no longer a supervisor just a "leader" What a slap in the face that was. The thing is that my replacement has only been there for 5 years and knows nothing about my department. So I stompped off to the office to find out what was going on and why I had to hear it from a co-worker instead of the management. Well, I have been trying to get this cleared up for over two weeks and he seems to be avoiding me. I can't get any answers....I don't think that I am wrong I think that he should have been mature enough to tell me. Now I feel that I have to talk to the big boss and no one else, that way he hears it from me and no one else!

Anyways, after putting in so much time, and devoting myself...yup I use to be dedicated..I have earned two weeks vacation and a week of personsal time. I have become very comfortable with my job and the people that I work with. Well, I have my foot in the door at 2 other companies, and I would make a little more money at either one of them, but is it worth giving up all the time that I have with my current job. I have beaten myself up about this. The question that I am trying to ask is what would you do? Start over or hang in there????? Thanks for taking the time to read this. I am very confused and any advice or suggestion would be helpful. Thanks in advance!!

Date: 7/11/2003 4:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 53284    Tough question and one that I can't answer for you. Do the other companies offer you more oppertunity? Would you be happier if you got away from your creepy boss? What would the downside be to moving to a different company? I took a new job a couple of years ago and the hardest part of making that decision was not knowing the people that I would be working with. I mean what happens if you end up with people who you don't get along with? Best of luck to you. It does sound like you're seriously thinking about leaving. Sometimes you can negotiate yourself into a better job and it may be worth it.
Date: 7/11/2003 5:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 62222    I would tend to caution staying at your current job if the only thing you are staying for is because it is comfortable. If that is the only reason, then maybe you should look for something else. No one can make the decision for you but, my advice is make sure you have something to stay for, and if not.....well, I'd leave.<regretfulhalo>
Date: 7/11/2003 6:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    isn't it wrong to demote a person... you cannot higher a person to be manager and then have them only a leader...there is something legally binding there(or atleast i was taught there was) well if your unhappy your unhappy... talk to your current boss and say hey this isn't right i deserve more respect and to be treated with such and to DEMOTE me from my job(what they cannot do!!) is a slap in the face and if something isn't done you will go to anotehr company... if they care about your services they will fix the issue...
Date: 7/11/2003 9:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 16705    can't you go over his head and find out why you were treated this way? that is not right to treat someone that way. if you can't get any answers from higher up then i would tell them good-bye and put an effort into finding a job that will show you respect. good luck to you. Date: 7/12/2003 7:31:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53013    Thanks for all the replies! I have soooo much to think about and I have set a deadline for myself, Aug 29th this is either going to be resolved or I am out of there. The big boss, who is apparently hiding out like a coward, has told me many times that he doesn't want me to quit. But know when I reeeeally need to speak with him he avoids me! I am sooo confused. I realize that no one can make this choice for me, but I would like to see what others would do. My hubby is supporting me either way.
