I can't believe that you haven't opened it yet. Granted I have lived in my house for 5 years and there are places in it that I have never been, but nothing that has been sealed off. I would be too paranoid and would need to know what was in there incase there was anything that could pose a potential threat. I would open it!...LOL |

yeah that's weird that it's painted shut. I would be curious too. We've only lived in our current home for about four months now. Our house has two levels and at the very top of the stairs is a crawl-space that goes to the attic. There's not door on the crawl-space, but someone has attempted to put a piece of cardboard over the opening but it's not completely covering the hole, so you can see inside just a bit. It's really dark in there too. It really creeps me out. I don't even like walking under it. I always feel like something is watching from inside that hole. *shudders* |

Man, I would get a dude who has a saw and some new wood to construct a new door and have him saw the door off (or a chick....not meaning to be sexist here! haha but a cute dude might be fun to watch work! lol) man if it were me I'd be totally bugging on the whole idea that there is a door I can't open! haha Peace |

ever hear of a sawz-all? they can cut through anything.... go rent one, or borrow one if you know someone. You can always replace the door with another piece of plywood :o) Did you try cutting through the paint with a razor knife? Try that, then shove a putty knife all around the seal to break the paint. You gotta get that door open!! :o) |

What if someone sealed that door off for a reason. Like what if there's a demon that's sealed in there. Or...what if someone murdered somebody and sealed the body in the attic...hehe..sorry..I have an over-active imagination...hehe. :P |

Puppy Love, I was thinking along the lines of electrical wires and old stuff being stored in or around them. Potential hazards such as that. |

I was jjust thinking..the base was made in the 1950s right? What we got to find out now is...if the houses from the 1950s have the kind of attics where you can actually WALK on (with planks). My house was made 13 years ago and if we got up into the attic all we would find would be planks but no floor to walk on and insulation) When I was little I used to think we had the kind of attic where you could sleep in it....but since ur house was made a long time ago it might have some sort of military paraphenalia that no one should "find" so they sealed it shut with paint(and some white crazy glue mixed in since ur ceiling is white)..I say Mel that...RIGHT before you move we should take a jig-saw and open it around the edges. (like the perimeter)...cause you never know waht we could find. Maybe your house will be like my house too (with nothing up there but planks and space and no floor) or maybe there could be the ______ ______es we thought it could be...or maybe there was some sort of military stuff. Ask Tyler if his old house since its identical to yours, if the attic was painted shut. You know how people also clean the house? Nowadays...the houses on the base are for cheap rent and people who are on drugs and stuff might hide drug plants ro something in the attic so they wanted to seal it so it wouldn't be possible. Cause seriously...when we went into your house when u first moved in there it REIKED of paint and what all was painted? The walls werent painted where they? What else could it of been? |
