Li awoke to the sounds of loud talking and shouting. She looked around and noticed that she was in an iron cage held high above a room. She gasped as tears began to fall from her eyes. She was frightened as any young girl would be. Her formaly beautiful dress was now shredded and covered with blood stains and her silvery hair was matted and full of twigs. Her blue eyes shone brighter than before with her tears sliding down her cheeks. She looked at her arms and legs and saw that they were badly scratched up. She assumed they must have drug her through rocks to get her to where she was now. "I wonder what they are going to do to me..." she thought to herself, knowing this was her death call. One of the demons rattled her cage. She screamed in fright as she fell over, hitting her head on the side of the cage. Right then the leader appeared in the room and mumbled something to one of the other demons. "Did you get that boy?!" "No sir. I shot him with an arrow but he didn't fall, he just kept running." "Well go back OUT THERE AND FIND HIM!" A group of demons ran out into the forest. Li gasped. "Seth...oh no." She cried more. Since there was nothing else she could do she lay down and fell asleep in the swaying cage. When she awoke the second time it was in the dead of night. A chill run up and down her spine. She shivered. "I wish Seth were here to save me from this...this...hell." "Oh, but I am, Love!" Li looked around quickly and saw Seth standing by the open window with a piece of a broken arrow in his shoulder. "Seth!!! Are you alright?!" "Shhh, shh. Calm down, love. Ask questions later. Right now I have to get you out of here." Li nodded in agreement and before she could say anything she was in Seth's arms. "How did you...What..?" "Trust me, darling. Just trust me." He smiled and Li threw her arms around his neck and kissed him softly. He put her down and motioned for her to climb out the window. Once they were both out Seth grabbed Li's hand again and they made their way through the forest. After wandering in the dark for a while Li spotted the icy blue pond where Seth had taken her earlier. They were both growing very tired. Seth, knowing that she was tired, stopped and gently picked her up in his arms and trudged on. Li closed her eyes and laid her head on Seth's shoulder. He gently kissed her forehead. By the time he reached the pond his pace was slowing. He stepped gently onto it's surface and an icy blu mist surrounded his feet, which began to slowly but surely disappear. Li could feel his pace slowing. "Are you sure you're okay? I don't want you to carry me if you're tired..." Seth kept moving. "No it's...okay...I'm fine...Just sleep okay..." By now everything from his waist down had disappeared into the mist. He was halfway across the pond. Li had yet to notice any of those, she just lay with her head on Seth's shoulder. By the time he was three quarters of the way there everything up to his arms was gone. Li could feel his grip loosening as he sat her on the other side of the pond. She stared at him in shear wonder and amazement. He was no longer Seth, her handsome young lover. He was now just an icy blue mist lingering in the air. Li bit her lower lip to keep from crying. "Trust me, Li. I won't let anything happen to you. Ever." Tears began to form in her eyes. "I love you, Li." The mist disappeared into the pond. Li finally realized what all this was. This wasn't true love, not yet at least. This was a love before time.
