That does seem a bit dangerous, I know I wouldn't let my children do it. We still have bake sales (every Fri) and from time to time they have candy sales to help fund their trips. Maybe you should go to the school board and suggest they bring back the bake sales in your area.  |

I agree with you. We used to have bake sales, car washes and anything else we could think of to raise money. I always see groups "begging" these days on corners and in medians. It is very dangerous. I always want to shout 'go wash a car or something' at them.  |

car washes are still popular!! and now they usually sell chocolate bars door to door OR they sell things lit hotdogs and pizza.... bake sales and school fairs are usually only for the young elementary schools now a days  |

It happens here too but there are always adults to supervise...here the cheerleaders had carwashes...schools have bake sales, hte Fazoli's donates spaghetti and breadsticks to the school and they sell spaghetti dinners to everyone. They also have a bookstore set up twice a year.  |

around here thy sell candy bars and wrapping paper door to door. I refuse to allow my children to participate... instead I write a check myself. I just don't think it's safe, they're too young. Some of the older kids do the car wash thing, too... it's usually a church youth group using their bikinis to reel them in.  |
