What was the first thing you did after highschool?

So, after you graduated what did you do to step into the realworld. Did you start a family? go to college? relax? work?....what?

I'm curious because I'm going to be a senior this year, and i'm already kind of scared about graduating, and entering the real world. I know what I want to do, but it's not going to be easy to accomplish....and I'd like to know what yall did when you graduated...

thanks:-)

Date: 7/12/2003 7:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 60162    I did a course for office administration, got my foot in the door for employment so I could pay my rent. It was a smart move actually, every business needs a receptionist. I am not doing University though to get into clinical psychology. It took me a few years to figure out exactly what I wanted to do.
Date: 7/12/2003 8:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 11348    I took time off, worked for 4 months saving every penny then took off to live on my own in texas with my boyfriend. It was kinda crazy but fun anyway. :)
Date: 7/12/2003 8:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 61912    I graduated at the semester, and joined the Army at the age of 17.....
Date: 7/12/2003 8:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 62221    I tried to take some time off, but I got offered a full time position at the place I was working, so that kind of blew that. *Brown Eyed Angel*
Date: 7/12/2003 8:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    Not by choice, had to work 2 full time jobs at once for 2 years. I was nothing but a robot then, didn't have a life and all I did was dream. I had a late start but hopefully things will work out. Just believe in yourself and don't give up
Date: 7/12/2003 9:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 53689    When I graduated from High School, I was extremely terrified of the real world. But I hit it head first..lol. I worked...and drifted around to different jobs that didn't make me happy. I had no idea what it was I wanted to do. Then I finally, at the age of 26, decided that I wanted to be a sociologist, so I went back to school. I am currently in my second semester of college. It is good that you know what you want to do.
Date: 7/12/2003 9:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    If I could remember correctly, I think I went to a full time graveyard shift job then I moved out of my parents and lived with my boyfriend and some roomates. I also went to college.
Date: 7/12/2003 9:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 52155    I slept in the next morning.
Date: 7/12/2003 9:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 53013    I started a family and got a full time job. Not exactly what I had planned but that's what I did. I am currently looking at maybe going back to college...maybe depending on the cost.
Date: 7/12/2003 9:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 36766    I did what Eddo did, I slept in the next morning
Date: 7/12/2003 10:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 24845    Well, a month after graduation I got married. Had a baby a year later, divorced six years later and now I feel like I wasted that six years. I wish I had gone to college and gotten somewhere in my life. I had such dreams. I wanted to be a singer, a pilot, a gymnast. Now I'm a single mother trying to survive on a small income. I can't say I'm not happy. I've learned alot. I'm only 27 but I feel much older. I didn't have the experience in life like most people my age have. I didn't go to school and obtain a degree in something that I did or didn't like. I would like to have that chance back, yet I can't. I wouldn't trade my kids in for anything. I have my own home that's paid for a great boyfreind that respects and loves me. I couldn't ask for more. I will always look back though and think of what I might have become otherwise. I hope that you dream your dreams and that you live them. Go to college. Do something worthwhile, whatever makes you happy. If it's a family then go for it. Have no regrets. Good Luck.
Date: 7/12/2003 10:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 47296    I was working part time when I graduated. For the first two months, I spent a lot of time partying and having fun waiting for my entry date for bootcamp. After that, I went in the Navy.
Date: 7/12/2003 10:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 13119    I did grades 11 and 12 in three terms and then was called into the forces.
Date: 7/13/2003 12:09:00 AM  From Authorid: 13546    I went straight to work after high school, still not sure what i want to do, and that happened a year ago! hmm.. its a hard decision!
Date: 7/13/2003 5:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 30747    I went to work in a grocery store. I partied it up for about a year and then married my highschool sweetheart. It was a good time. I didn't even think about college until I was in my 30s. I don't suggest waiting that long but it was right for me.
Date: 7/13/2003 5:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    I think I went out drinking :P and then I got a job at a gas station. I stayed there for about a year and then started working in the dealership across the street. What started as something "just for now" turned into a 10 year "career". When I got sick of all that, I went to beauty school and got licensed to do nails... that got old very quickly. Then I took a couple years off. When I went back to work, I worked for an unfinished furniture store finishing furniture... around my 4th month there, I found out I was pregnant and had to quit. I still haven't figured out what I REALLY want to do with my life.... there are so many things I'd like to do.
Date: 7/13/2003 11:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 56293    I graduated this year and I'm working. I plan on attending college in December or March. I just need a break from school!
Date: 6/20/2005 2:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 16376    I graduated last year, and started college that fall. No family or kids yet, LOL...
