Those people should be forced to control their dogs! I can't believe they just sat there while the dogs went after you. And I can't believe animal control won't do anything about it. Maybe the police could do something, but I don't know. |

First off I believe that every city in every state should have a leash law no matter what. We have dogs that wonder around at my moms getting into trash and one time a rotty killed my kitten (our neighbors dog) animal control did nothing the owners did nothing. It's really lame how more can't be done until someone get's killed by the animal. Good luck on your next bike ride hope they stay away. Love and Hugs, |

I probably wont go that way again but yea every Tuesday and Friday it seems like every dog in the neighborhood was out...the dog that attacked me is pretty small about 15 to 20 pounds I am guessing. If it had been a bigger dog I have no doubt I would have wrecked. What I dont get is how these people could just stand by and watch it. They seemed tobe more angry that I kicked their dog then the fact that their dog attacked someone. I guess I should have just laid down and let him bite me I dont know. I mean if a dog attacks someone the reaction is to do what you can to get it off you right? |

They should have those dogs on leashes especially if they try and bite people on bikes etc...people like that should not be allowed to own animals.Makes me mad to think if one of those dogs were to get hold of a child. Also they should be kept fenced in if they do that kind of damage to the neighborhood. |

Yea I know Medusa...they have a fence around their yard too with a gate but it is never closed. And what I dont get is their dogs are beautiful dogs...they have about 6 or 7 last time I counted. The boy used to take them to the busstop every mornign then they would just roam the neighborhood for a few hours before making their way back home. I have had disagreements with both him his sister and his parents and always over the same thing...their dogs. Dont get me wrong I dont hate dogs I just dont like dogs who are vicious or dogs who are disobedient. |

Your a much more patient person than me. I know it might sound mean, but, If my son and I were riding our bikes and a dog ran up and attacked one of us I would have jumped off my bike and BOOTED that dog a good 10+ feet, if he came at us again I would kick him again. The dog would either stop attacking or end up dead. Then I would sue the owners. |

Growing up our neighborhood dog was a sweet heart,he was called the dog mayor of our block..he got treats from most of us and he would sit on any step, plus he was our male dogs friend they walked together when I had our dog out for a walk and they sat together when we were all out front sitting, see thats the kind of dog you don't mind walking free. And when it was time for him to go in he would run to his door and bark or he had me open the door for him. |

it infuriates me just reading this! people like that should not own dogs! and they probably KNOW animal control won't do anything, so that is why they just sit and watch. i agree, you have more patience than me. i would have probably kicked back and probably screamed at the owners. my son would've had a heart attack! he is afraid of strange dogs. i believe a leash law should be mandatory everywhere! |

hey girl! how are you? first of all i would call animal control and ask to speak to the boss if they won't let you then tell them you'll go to the newspaper people and tell them your story, i bet that will get their attention, then why not get some pepper spray, plus get the address of the people who are standing there doing nothing. there are so many things you can do. isn't there a leash law where you live? make some noise girl and you will get noticed. let me know what happens ok? lol Hamb918 |

That would tick me off as well. When I was a kid, we had rabbits and a dog in the neighborhood used to bite at their feet and pull on them. I won't go into the awful details, but we lost a lot of rabbits (they were in our fenced yard in cages). The city told us the same thing you are being told. One morning, I went out to feed them and walked into a bloody mess (I was very young). The next morning, the dog came back again and my mom did in fact shoot it. She felt horrible. She loves animals and hated to do what she did, but she also couldn't stand the thought of me and my brothers going out there and finding our rabbits dead day after day. it was happening at least 4 times a week and we were losing at least 3 rabbits each day the dog came into our yard. Since that isn't an option, maybe you could get all the neighbors to sign a petition. Also, Midnightly has some great ideas. |

I cried for hours. Even now thinking about the rabbits and the way the dogs mauled them just tears me up.***See this is why I like cats better I have never heard of a cat attacking someone on a bike;)*** |

I'm still trying to find out why people would even want dogs like that as pets. I forgot to mention in my last reply that my mom called the owners numerous times to complain. They always told her that we should put our rabbits where their dog couldn't get to them. They were in our fenced yard and in a building with 3 sides open (best way I know how to describe it). That wasn't good enough, but it was ok for their dog to be let loose. I still can't understand that. People that irresponsible shouldn't be allowed to own pets. |

Hello LEASH LAWS! They HAVE to do something, try calling the police, maybe that will help..The dog bit you, they have to do something..And I'm with MOF, if that dog was attacking me, it would have been flying lol. My mom and I got attacked by a Golden once, as soon as it came up to us barking and growing, and trying to go after our little doggies, my mom kicked it in the face, and if that didn't stop it, she was very ready to kill it, or at least bring it down on the ground.. |

they told you to SHOOT it?!? oh.. you live in the South huh... i really could not go and shoot someone's dog.. i would feel terrible about it- and it should not be YOUR responsibility to do something about them! but have you ever gone and asked the owners about it? maybe you could reason with them. probably sounds really unlikely, but you never know. |
