I just read your comment on that other post! I was shocked! I'm 18 and couldn't imagine having a child. I know people can and have done it, but I don't think I'm ready to give up my 'teen life' for a baby. I don't think you can blame it on the parent's so much. . .If kids want to have sex, they will find a way.  |

Wow, what happened to being a child first? This is sad not only for the child (that's coming) but the mother(to be) as well. Sounds like the parents didn't really care (my opinion). I mean come on..a child of 11 should be playing with barbies not with sex. Why is it that kids want to rush into being grown up? Kids should be kids for as long as possible!  |

I think it's sick. If you do not have a clue that your daughter is sexually active, then you need to start paying more attention. Put her on the pill, and if you have to, WATCH her take it every day before school. Sorry, but there is NOTHING you can do to make her stop having sex. Nothing. The only thing you can do is make sure she is safe. Ok, there is one thing you can do to stop her, but I am sure that locking her in her room forever will not solve things. And believe me, kids are so crafty, she'd find some way to get out, or get him in anyways. Sad fact...more kids now than ever before are having sex at younger and younger ages. Do you really believe that Jenny JOnes and Ect. are lying about this? Kids as young and younger than 9 yrs old are now having sex. If you even SUSPECT your daughter is sexually active, go to the doctor, and ask about birth control.  |

this is a sad fact.. parents need to talk to thier children more about this and the importantce of protection and safety.... i find it intersting that if a person practices "safe sex" properly(with no birth control pill) can go years without having a pregnancy scare... but some kids just don't even think it's worth it a simple 15 seconds before the act can make all the difference  |

First of all, what makes you think that she was pregnant(I guess in some cases it is obvious), question number 2, what makes you think she was that young. Maybe she is a 20 year old that looks like she is 10 or 11. Maybe she has an unussual type of tumor. Even if she is a pre-teen that got pregnant, I would like to give her the benifit of a doubt, maybe she was raped. Which if that is the case, it is not her fault.  |

Well maybe she was not really that young...I got pregnant at 15 and most people thought I was only about 12 or 13. Teens who get pregnant though should not be ridiculed their life is going to be hard enough they need support and we need education to help those at risk...anyhow for all you know this girl could have been raped and does not believe in abortion. Without knowing her individual circumstances I would not be able to say anything. Now as for your question I would not reccomend teen parenting to anyone but I also would not trade my kids for the world  |

12,13,15-- what's the difference? All too young to take on the real responsibility by themselves. This puts hardship (financially and emotionally)on their parents in return-- the parents usually end up watching the kid or paying for a sitter if the child continues to go to school after having the baby. The parents more than likely have to pay most if not all that any insurance does not cover for hospital expenses. If insurance would even cover such a thing. All in all it's wrong for kids to be having kids. Opinion. |

11? Do girls even have their PERIODS at 11? Can their bodies even HANDLE being pregnant? That's really sad.. personally, I think you should wait just a TAD bit longer than ELEVEN to have sex. Heck, I'm 17 and I'm still a virgin. I'm in a very serious relationship, too.. infact, we're engaged. As much as I love him (sooo much) I'm just not ready yet. Alot of girls are pressured into having sex or think that they HAVE to, or think it's the "cool" thing to do. I think everyone should wait until marriage, but that's just me talking. Anyways, this comment has gotten WAY off track.. so back to the original topic. My BROTHER is 11 and that's just gross picturing him as a daddy. I mean, he's 4'8" and he weighs 60 pounds for Christ's sake! Personally, I feel bad for the baby. She/he's probably going to end up being neglected. Hopefully, the mother to be has some sense and puts it up for adoption.  |

Rika some girls get their umm *Aunt Flo* at age of 9 or rarely even 8, so yeah its possible. But most boys dont umm *mature* until their like 12 or so, so i guess those 6 n 7 years olds really couldnt. in fact thats just sad! There are two assumptions here. One is that the girl was about 11. The other is that she was pregnant. They are only that, assumptions. If she were in fact pregnant and that young, odds are that child resources would have stepped in as soon as they heard about the case, and some sort of charges would have been filed. Even if it was consentual with another preteen or young teen, the state still reserves the right to file statuatory rape charges, and does in practically every case.  |

That is sad....I once saw a girl who was 9 years old who was 7 months pregnant. She was at a salon with her mother while we were there. I couldnt believe it...her mother shared the whole story of how she was never around for her daughter and this and that...but still poor girl she will never know what its like to grow up normal. Parents need to be more involved...i'm not saying that'll solve teen or pre-teen pregnancy but when a child at the age of 9 is pregnany something is really wrong.  |

Last year about 3 towns over from me, a 10 year old girl was having sex with a 60 something year old man. She got pregnant, had the baby, but the baby (as well as her) were put in foster care. Someone VERY close to me got pregnant at 13. She said to me "I never thought it would happend to me" which is what alot of people I know say when they get pregnant not on purpose. It is sad, but there really isn't anything that can be done to make sure ALL young girls stay away from sex. If they want to do it, they will. There will always be a few who slip through the cracks and don't realize the consequence that come with sex, or they don't care. It breaks my heart to see young girls with child. I could never imagine what it would be like being a mother at that age.  |

Now THIS is very scary..I have an 11 year old daughter and I think I would absolutely freak out if she got pregnant. She's too young to even be left alone by herself and care for herself properly while my fiance and I are at work..I can't even imagine her having to be responsible for a young baby. She is good with helping out with my friends babies or young children as in looking after them or playing with them..but definitely not mature enough for the full time responsibility of her own child... My daughter thinks that I am mean and paranoid because I won't let her run the streets with her friends and that I say who she can and can't hang out with..but I'll take her anger anyday over the other consequences. She'll thank me someday when she is a college graduate starting a career and all of her friends are tied down with children.  |

A mother who doesn't care, I guess. Also last year, a few towns over, a prostitute was bring her daughter (I believe 11 years old) and her niece (I believe 9) to the mayors office and meeting him in private places so he could have sexual contact with the girls. He is in jail for life, and the children are in foster care. The last I heard the mother (the prostitute) was suing the town, because they didn't do anything about it (like they knew in the beginning). I am pretty sure the mother was arrested as well. Some people are just plain disgusting. |

I just wanted to add something...when you see a young teen who is promiscuous(sp?) or sexually active at a young age chances are her parents are either negligent(that is kinda obvious cause I doubt any parent in their right mind would allow a teen to be sleeping around) or abusive or both. Chances are even higher she has either been molested or raped at some point in her life. Now this is not going to apply to every single teen mom or promiscuous teen but to alot of them. Just thought you should keep that in mind the next time you are thinking about how horrible it is for a teenager to get pregnant. Also at least she is taking responsibility for her actions and not taking the easy way out and aborting. And like has been said before she could very well be over 18. I know one of my good friends was very small(I think she was like 4' 11' and 90 pounds) when she got pregnant at the age of about 19 or 20 and she looked like a little girl she still does although she is now a little bigger(weight wise not height)...you never can tell. |

if i have it right a male can get a...... at any age(even as a baby)...(i don't know this from PERSONAL experince but my i have been told this from more then one source) it's just hormones don't really make it a normal thing until puberty sets in.... a male baby is technically still able(and is like any male) creating sperm even though they are still a baby |

First of all, You might be wrong about the girl, she could just LOOK young... It is a possiblility that I feel you've over-looked. And about the whole teenage pregnancy thing... Its happening more and more today...Its sad, I do agree with you to an extent about the parent issues... But in some cases the parents can't do anything... I personally think it would be a GREAT wake-up call for kids who want to have babies early (In their teens) To go stay with a teen parent for a day... I think it would be interesting to see how they felt after their day there...   |

Ok I am just going to add something here with all these comeets yes I agruee with some of you that she could of been raped just looked young or just looked pregnant and even if she is pregnant weather she was raped or not and no matter weather she looks young or not people should suport her cause she it will be tough for her. And as for eveyone else who have said that all children should be locked up to stop this and and all teen mums (or pre-teen mums) are the result of their perents being bad perents and abuseing them that is not true and no kid should be locked up we will rebeil more and that can cause great harm. Trust me teacher say I am a good student but that is because the teachers at my school are nice so I have no point in rebeling. a lot of these young young pregnancies have to have like c-sections, because since they haven't finished developing and everything it's harder for the childes head to get under the uhh pelvis or pubic bone... i don't remember which, shows how much attention i pay in family life ed., god my sister (28) were having this little chat, apparently she was on the pill at 13-15 and having guys over and everything i'm like say what? and then she told me that i oughta go on and get mom to put ME on the pill just in case, I look at her and say "i don't intend for that to be an issue for a good while now..." she just said "okay" in a nonbelieveing way.... i know people that have gotten pregnant at 13 my best friends cousin (baaad example on my friend well ex best friend really) was pregnant at like 14.. i never really liked her but my friend like addooored her *all hail the cousin* now my friend is doing all kinds of drugs sleepin with dudes and all this other stuff AND SHE'S not even 15 yet, she's been doin all this since sixth grade! some of this stuff is RIDICULOUS! ahhh i mean it... i don't wanna BE some teenager with a kid on one hip, dad with a shotgun and some dude i just met standin beside me at the alter!  |
