yes i had the illness as a child. you may not know this...since you have been diagnosed with lyme disease you will never be able to give blood ever again. cause the lyme disease meeses with your red blood cells to the point that you eventualy won't ever have any or be unhealthy for a long time until you die. thats what i have read in medical book's and i was told by my family doctor when i was diagnosed with this illness...hope you feel better soon...write back to me if you need to talk...kim...  |

Kim thats only if the illness is untreated or advances into later stages. I'v read a lot about it. It can diseminate through the body either by the circulatory system or the lympatic system. As long as it is treated early and the patient respond to treatment it has no life long effects. And I don't give blood anyway so I don't care.*lol*  |

I double checked and the only mention of post-treatment complications for the disease are chances for memory impairment and morbidity. Since you were diagnosed a while ago, the information you were given wasen't what is known about the disease now. Were you treated with a course of antibiotics when you were diagnosed?  |
