as girls are actually more mature earlier than boys they should be able to take responsibility for themselves earlier. The main problem here is that parents tend to be more protective toward girls than boys, maybe because they have the families, and are more sensitive generally when it comes to emotions |

helpless little girls are 5 years old... every girl is different some mature faster then others, a 16 year old raised very sheltered is helpless but a 16 year old who knows what goes on in the world is not helpless... |

Some women have that "helpless little girl" aura about them for YEARS after they're even labeled as a "girl". |

If anyone can get off on the excuse that they were just a "little girl," then they should be treated as such in all respects. If they get into trouble and are excused because of being immature, then they should not be treated as mature in any other area until they prove their maturity. This goes for guys, too. "He's just a kid. Let him go." Okay, then that "kid" is grounded, and can't see his friends for a month. Forget that he's 20. If people can't have responsibility for their actions in times of temptation and in times when they should know what they're in for, then they should be treated as irresponsible children in all aspects of their lives until they really do grow up. Incidently, I read before that the government considers women as adults at 18, and men as adults at 21. Interesting. |

Its not a lack of responsibility, it is, however, a male-norm and regardless of advances still is a man's world. Every standard is from what is normal for a man. So when a woman doesn't live up to that standard, she's a "girl" or unworthy and whatnot. And if she does live up to the standard...well, I think you can think of the choice words you men have for us. |
