USM Column #3 by UrbanCowgirl

Sadly, I have not been approached with a question from any of our USMer's for today's column. So, to maybe spark an interest, I have a question for you. I will post the best written answer on tomorrow's column. It is just a simple question: What kind of music do you like and why? Now, I am emphasizing the WHY part. Whoever gives the best explanation wins...and I will let you know. **PLEASE POST YOUR ANSWER IN AUTHOR ONLY**

TODAY'S MOVIE FEATURE

Also for today I have a question for the movie section. What are your top 3 favorite movies of all-time and why? These answers do not need to be in Author only, but if you just want to combine your answers, go ahead, and let me know which answers are for what question!

My favorite 5 are (in this order): Ocean's Eleven, Frequency, and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Now, I have a reason for these:

OCEAN’S ELEVEN (PG-13) is a great guy movie. But then again, it can also be dubbed a chick flick because of the hunky cast: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon to name a few. I have to admit that Brad Pitt drew my attention into the movie the first time I watched it. It's adventurous, suspenseful, and somewhat romantic. I have now seen the movie exactly 57 times, and I’m STILL not sick of it! The language isn’t horrid to my standards (and I don’t really appreciate swearing) and there isn’t any sexual content. Ocean’s Eleven is MY #1 movie of all time.

FREQUENCY (PG-13) starring Mel Gibson look-alike Dennis Quaid and James Caviezel (Who just so happens to be a native of my Washington State). This movie is everything you want: Sci-fi, action, drama, and a little spark of romance. The beginning of the movie is cute…then it gets weird…and finally suspenseful. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time and you still talk about it for weeks afterwards. This is also a movie I recommend for the guys and gals out there!

2 FAST 2 FURIOUS (PG-13) is a sequel to the hit The Fast and The furious, minus Vin Diesel. Hunky Paul Walker stars again, bringing speed to a whole new level. I never personally saw the first, but I don’t think it can compare up to number 2. The cars are hot, the guys are hot, and it IS hot. Anyone who doesn’t enjoy this movie has to be a slight bit crazy. The swearing is moderate, there isn’t sexual content (unlike #1), and the story line is better. There’s a slight twist at the end that makes you smile, as does the whole movie in itself. This is a movie that you don’t have to see before you buy, because I’m sure you’ll want to watch it again!

CONCLUSION

Now, I would appreciate your answers to my questions! I can’t very well continue my column if I don’t have any readers, now can I? Thanks you guys who HAVE read my column so far. I welcome questions, comments, and suggestions with open arms. As for now, this is the August 5th edition of Urban Cowgirls USM column!

Date: 8/7/2003 12:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 62100    My top 3 favorite movies are:
1) Grease..why? Do you even have to ask?? John Travolta and Olivia Newton John in their prime, singing and dancing their ways into your heart. From the very start you're rooting for them and you just know that they belong together. This movie is a pretty honest portrayal of teens in the 50's and you feel good knowing that your parents weren't angels either. LOL It's a great movie, fun to watch and sing along to and when it's over you just feel good.
2) Dream A little Dream..Why? Anyone from the 80's can answer that one..Corey and Corey..also it is a great movie that brings different generations together and makes us understand that older people are just like us..
3) Purple Rain..Why? It wasn't just another "rock" movie..it showed us the true diversity and talent of Prince.
