I do not live in California but I have to say that maybe Arnold can do good for the state. I feel maybe what all states need to elect someone without political experience, maybe they need people who actually care about where they live and not be running just to use it as a stepping stone to the White house. I applaud Arnold for stepping up to the plate. |

Arnold is extremely smart, so he might be a good thing for the state. Reagan started out as a movie star too... |

LOL Of course it's all about politics! The California consitituion also allows this so it isn't illegal..California is the 5th largest economy in the world and they are falling apart finacially. Something has to be done and Grey Davis is only making matters worse. I personally wouldn't want the job and don't know why anyone would want it. |

If we had a recall option for president of the USA would the same people be in favor of recalling Bush? Afterall he has a deficit and failed to look ahead. *shrug* Of course you could say Bush is suffering the consequences of Clinton's recession. But so is Davis. I think the answer to this question could show alot. |

I live in California and am a democrate. Grey Davis took a record surplus of funds and ran it into a record deficit. He trys to micro manage the seventh largest economy in the world. Already suffering from business flight from California, Davis's plan to improve the situation would be to increase taxes. During the boom years of the 90's when the state had way too much money, we didn't spend it on infrastructure improvements. We didn't try to make this a business friendly state. We just spent spent spent. Now when times are tough, Grey Davis's leadership is sadly lacking. Many people try to say this is just about politics but I don't think so. There never would have been a recall if Davis hadn't been doing such a lousy job. Personally I want him and his cronies out of Sacramento as soon as possible. Hopefully the next Governer will actually try to improve the business conditions for the state which would improve the employment situation. |

Well, lets put it this way-in war, Conservatives really don't care about cost because they feel war is the most important at the time of war, regardless of cost, which is why you see the increase deficit spending for defense. Of course deficit spending matters, but not so much on the Fed. level, because EVERY country generally has a considerable deficit. On the state level, it is much more damaging to run a high deficit. The state can't pay for its human and social services, it can't pay the Fed., etc. It matters much more on state level, which if you pay attention to my state, Illinois, you see that the Budget has raised all sorts of agony here, but the Gov, regardless of what got trimmed, did hand us a balanced budget this year. Its hard when not one single agency or group wants to give up its funding, but money needs to be cut from somewhere. So on one hand, Davis needs to pay attention to that. On the other, they're all playing petty, wasteful political softball. |
