We're waiting to see
The words of the wise again
Come to our eyes and ears

We're wanting to know
The paths to take
When we are weary of the storm

We're shivering in the cold
Without a glowing word
So fine-spun to warm our souls

Here we are willing to be
Receptive to an eloquent speaker
Won't someone step up to speak their mind?

Listless we stand
As shadows grow longer
And hearts lose interest in words

Won't one brave one come
To cast some brilliant rhyme before us
Deserving of praise

The earth is silent tonight
Milling about, people are grey
No vivid color of a poem to wash us alive
