They've got to be kidding

In Arizona this year the tuition for undergraduates at the three public Universities went up $1000.00 an increase of 39%. A few of the students unhappy with the increase filed a lawsuit in court yesterday saying the increase was unconstitutional because the Arizona Constitution requires that instruction at state schools be as nearly free as possible.

The reason according to the Universities for the increase "Board members said they supported the increase because it increased financial aid to students by about 140 percent to more than $38 million this year."

So everyone else is footing the bill for some people to get a free education? What about the people who take out loans and have to pay them back with interest. They're having to pay interest on a thousand dollars so someone else can get a degree. If they had the money they wouldn't be taking out loans in the first place.

Does anyone else see how ridiculous this is. I'm all for helping the poor but take out loans, do work study, work and save up money, no one should get a free ride at the expense of others.

Date: 8/27/2003 4:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 28946    I see your point and agree. A person values something more if they have to work hard to earn it. Same as an education, for so many that get it paid for by others tend to goof off alot and not worry.
