Surfing is just as dangerous as most sports. There is always the risk of getting hurt. I wouldn't surf around rocks though... ususally you can find other beaches that don't have the rocks.  |

I grew up in Florida and have never been surfing but I do have lots and lots of friends and family who do surf...it can be loads of fun and I dont think any of my friends have ever been hurt of course Florida is not really known for huge waves since we are on the Atlantic ocean is is a little calmer I think then most other oceans. Anyhow start out small maybe get an experinced surfer to help you...only surf where it is safe...dont go above what you can handle or try to show off by doing stunts you are not ready to do and always try to surf with a friend or where there are lifegaurds and you should be ok.  |
