Lots of Amazon Creatures. Snakes, poisonus spiders (such as tarantulas) ect. That is mainly by the rivers. Brasil is spelled wrong in the US. In Brasil is spelled BRASIL not BRAZIL. Remeber that. To Brasilians that is an insult. Large quatities of land are very poor. Lots of "ghettos" unlike you have ever seen. Don't give people $, you will be harmed if the wrong people see. Make certain you check your place every night unless you are staying in a nice place for spiders and snakes and request to have them removed immidiately. It is better that you put a towel underneath every door so none can get in at night. Beware of vampire bats. They do bite humans if you are bleeding. I have never been to Brasil. I know all of this because a family hosted a missionary group that lived in Brasil for many years. I hung out with them every day and saw many pictures, heard millions of stories and saw many "bugs" That they brought back with them. DON'T DRINK THE WATER! You will get VERY ill if you do. Buy bottled water at all times. I think that's it. |

In high school my friend was an exchange student there. She loved it. She went camping with her host family, made kool aid and forgot to boil the water. She picked up a parasite and lost 20 pounds in a week! So just remember to drink bottled water or boil it first. |

I've been to Brasil.. In general people act differently there than they do in the US, they're more open, friendly.. Most Brasilians DON'T speak SPANISH, they speak **Portuguese** (basically a combination of french and spanish). Very important to know if you want to communicate with them.. :P Hmm, what else.. Oh! If at all possible, go to an ice cream place there.. Their flavors are SOOO GOOD!! oh, yeah.. You know the sign for "ok" in the US? with the index finger and the thumb together forming a circle and the other fingers up? Well, that means a very very insulting phrase in Brasil. I've gotten into the habit of not doing it in the states, either, it stuck on me. The thumb's up sign is fine, though. I hope my odd bits of info will help you survive in Brasil. If you have any questions in specific, please feel free to leave a message in my profile, and I'll do my best. :) |
