I'm going through the same thing right now. All of the sudden my computer started going nuts...when I go to restart it is says that it wasn't a proper shut down and then it takes about an hour to scan my hard drive with a through scan. I don't know what is going on buts it's been this way for a couple of days now. I think that I'm either going to run a virus scan or either just completely reformat which I really don't want to do considering I would have to reload all of my programs that I use..sigh... |

As always best advice is to back up all your information at least once a month. Videos, pictures, music and even downloaded programs can be burnt to a cd. If my computer screwed up like that it would take about four hours total to get it brainwashed, reloaded and back online with everything running again. You may have possibly gotten a virus through Kaaza or email. Some can delete the HiMem files and cause your computer not to boot up. Just make sure your virus definitions are up to date and dont think that other people out there will have thiers up to date. Most dont. |

mine does this quite often. it started a couple of years ago, and it does it only on like really hot days, or when we had a bad storm. i don't know what's wrong with it...but it eventually starts working if you mess with it enough. |

The master boot record is basically a set of files that tell your computer how to read the hard drive. If these files are damaged or lost, you can kiss any information on your hard drive goodbye. Viruses and faulty hard drives are two of the most common causes for this. I'll assume you're running Windows and advise you to run a thorough scan on your hard drive with Scandisk and make sure it's okay. Also get a good antivirus program if you don't already have one and keep it updated. Hope this helps. :) ~Nytwolf~ |

Probably one of the best things you can do is make a 3.5" Windoze start up(boot) disk...9 times out of 10 you can use it to access your Windoze.... |
