(AUTHOR NOTE: this one is a bit shorter than the others, but thats because i rushed on it..lol. I promise I'll get better at getting these done before i'm due to put them up..lol.)
Dear Diary,
The more I think about the whole event, the more afraid I actually get. To think that we could have lost Jared. Had that bullet hit his chest instead of his knee cap, he wouldn’t be going through rehabilitation. No, he’d be going into the ground. What is this that I’m feeling? I’ve hated men since my sister died. And I thought I was always going to hate them. But now Jared comes around and all of that changes. He changed everything I knew and believed, changed my feelings so fast. Is this love? Am I insane?
Sincerely, Kylie

Jared opened his eyes to the doorbell ringing, his head hurting more than it had been because of the sound. “Come in!”
The door opened and shut quickly. Jared kept his eyes on the door, his body tense and his hand holding his hang gun just in case. He fell back onto the pillows when he saw that it was Kylie who had come in and not someone to finish the job. She waved a Tupperware container at him, and then threw it over with a smile.
“I used to make food all the time,” Kylie said. “So I decided to make you some pumpkin bread. It’s really good.”
“Thanks,” Jared smiled at her. “I appreciate it.”
Kylie walked over to him and leaned down to kiss his forehead. He looked up at her as she backed away slightly. They stared at each other for a moment, both sort of afraid. Jared finally put his hand up to her cheek and pulled himself up to kiss her softly on the lips. When they broke away from each other, both had a smile on their faces.
Kylie sat down on his bed, staring at him intently. “So how is your knee?”
“It’s okay. Not hurting as much as it was before,” he responded.
“Well that’s good,” Kylie smiled. She turned her head and saw two piles of books on the ground by the bed. “Have you been reading?”
“Yeah,” Jared nodded. “Got nothing better to do with my time.”
“Which is the in box and which is the out box?” Kylie joked.
Jared pointed to a messy pile on the ground. “That’s the books I’ve already read. This neat little pile next to me is the books I’m still working on. Anything big happen at work?”
“No, not really,” Kylie shook her head. “We’ve had a few drug abuse cases. One kid died from overdose. But nothing huge.”
“Fun,” Jared frowned.
“You know,” Kylie’s smile faded. “You could pass time by trying to walk.”
Jared just stared back blankly at her. He turned his head away, opening up a book on self-mutilation to look at. Kylie let out a long sigh and stood up, taking a few steps away from his bed. Jared continued to pretend to read, looking at Kylie from the corners of his eyes. Kylie stopped at the doorway and turned back to him, frowning.
“You know,” Kylie said behind tears. “You’re never going to get better and be back on your feet if you won’t even try.”
“Maybe I don’t want to try,” Jared said coldly, his eyes back on the book.
“So you’re done helping people, saving lives?” Kylie asked, glaring hard at him. “Fine, be a chicken. Whatever.”
“Now Kylie...” Jared began.
Kylie’s phone rang, cutting him off before he could say anything else. “Yes? What? Okay, thank you. I’ll be right there.”
She hung up the phone and turned to Jared, getting a bit annoyed with him. “There’s a school shooting down at Northridge. Thanks for leaving me to do it alone.”
Jared tried to say something but Kylie turned and walked out of the house. Jared let out a small cry of frustration, throwing the book across the room and hitting the lamp. He stared hard at the shards of glass for a moment, and then turned his attention to another book, trying to forget everything.

Kylie ran down the road, her dark hair flowing behind her. She had parked about a block away from the school so the ambulance wouldn’t have to go around her car in the parking lot if it was needed. She came up beside on of the police officers, trying to catch her breath before talking to him.
One of the detectives came up, recognizing her. “Miss Dominick, it’s good to see you.”
“Hello Detective Ross,” Kylie said, finally catching her breath. “Any idea who is hurt?”
“No,” Detective Ross shook his head. “There are three shooters. That’s all we really know. The shooters are keeping people hostage inside the school. Some kids gave managed to get out safely, but the majority of them are hiding in the classrooms.”
Kylie turned to see some parents coming up to her and the detective, their faces full of fear. “Get my child out of there!”
“We’re doing everything we can,” the detective responded.
“No,” the man replied. “If you were doing everything you could, then those kids would be out by now!”
Kylie walked away, not wanting to get in the middle of that fight. She walked over to the other police officers, listening in on some of the messages going back and forth. One officer had a shooter on the phone, the shooter telling them that there was nothing they could do to stop them. They wouldn’t stop until every last one of the people who hurt them was dead.
Kylie turned her head away, feeling overwhelmed by the whole thing. Her own heart was racing and she wasn’t sure what to do. If they didn’t do something, a bunch of teenagers would be killed. She put her head down, running her hands over her locket that held a picture of her little sister Tira in it. A tear fell down her cheek.
She was broken out of her daze when she heard the word bomb. She ran over to the speaker, listening as one of the guys mentioned the bomb, saying it would blow the whole school sky high. The police began to panic, not sure what to do, and Kylie could feel her heart pounding against her chest.
She let out a cry when a hand fell on her shoulder, turning as fast as she could. “Jared?”
Jared held himself up with one crutch, a brace around his knee so as not to hurt it more. “Artificial knees work just as well as real ones. I’m not leaving you to do this alone.”
Kylie turned and looked at him, smiling. “Thank you.”
“So, what do we have?” Jared leaned in to speak to one of the officers.
"They claim to have a bomb in there," the officer responded.
Jared frowned, wincing slightly as he turned around to take in the view of the school. The police officers were trying to figure out what to do when a small pop sounded. Jared and Kylie both turned to the school, and everything seemed to happen in slow motion.
Jared put his arm around Kylie and they both fell to the ground from the intensity of the explosion. Officers flew back, hitting the pavement and cars. Some people hid quickly, the explosion barely touching them. Kylie let out a scream as Jared put his arms over her face, shielding her. Parents let out screams and sobs started sound through the parking lot.
Kylie kept her head down on the ground, not wanting to look. Jared looked back, the flames spreading fast. Soon the school was engulfed.
**
Flowers and candles lined the streets where the school used to stand. Graves were laid on the burnt ground for all the lives lost. Kylie and Jared stood quietly near the back while parents put down more flowers, crying for their lost children. Jared put his arm around Kylie, pulling her close to him.
"Rest in peace," Jared whispered.
