First of all, the Lost Colony isn't really lost. It is a historical fact that the word "Croatoan" was carved onto a tree at the site, where the colony was situated. The Croatoan were a tribe of American Indians in the area, who had previously helped out the colonists. It is a public fact that research conducted on tree rings in the area has determined that the colony was established smack in the middle of a 20-year drought, which helps explain why the colonies crops always failed, badly affecting morale! It is also a matter of public record that the descendants of the Croatoan, have amongst them family members with blue and green eyes (previously unknown amonst Native Americans) and that many of them use catch-phrases and language styles particular to 16th-17th Century English. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that the "Lost" colonists abandoned the European way of life which was wholly dissatisfying, and assimilated themselves with the Indians, who were thriving. Today, the Croatoan descendants are known as "The Robinson County Indians". |

Im gonna be open minded and say this... If I could go back in time, I'd go to Abilene, KS in 1871, and hitch up to Wild Bill Hickok! LOL! Ive always wanted to live back then...Why?...Not sure, just seems like a place in time I would have been able to 'be me'. This time and age is just so fast, and although convenient, just not my ideal century to live in. Ive never confessed this before, so it feel a little silly, but I would have loved to shot my pistol with Wild Bill! There's just 'something' about him that draws me. His picture is my background on my PC, and he just is so alluring to me. Must have been one more charmer, to still 'have it' after being dead 127 years, huh? Oddly enough, a girl I worked with at one time said she pictured me as a saloon girl singing on a piano. I cracked up, but never told her why..... Darlene |
