Well, this is one area I actually have some real experience(s) in, unfortunately. Even though I too, am fascinated by the paranormal... I realize there is real danger there. What you are describing as "playful" is called a poltergeist. All in all though, I generally define them as ghosts and some as demons. I guess we as humans have an obvious limited capacity for understanding in this area but use your intuition that's given to every human. If something's telling you that something is there, then it probably is. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. My very first post on this site was about the haunted house I lived in. I've had numerous paranormal experiences before and after that but that one delt with actual ghosts causing havoc. You mentioned that you're mom thought this ghosts(s) could have followed her. She's right, yes.. they can do that. It's not frequent but it's been documented by paranormal researchers to have happened. I watch many documentaries on Sci-Fi, Discovery, History Channel and others about this subject. It's a real phenomena. They choose or attach themselves to certain people and families sometimes for reasons unknown. There are some similarities in many cases though, where entities seem to be highly attracted to very "sensitive or intuitive" people and children. They are commonly seen and reacted to by animals...this is where many people first discover something's going on. You need to remember that they only have power to cause problems if you allow it. I believe, every spirit or demon is ultimately commanded by God and can be diminished by him. I think you should start looking into ways of ridding yourself of something that can progressively get worse with time. Usually, people start seeing or sensing and hearing things after 6 mos to 1 yr of living in a particular place. When they start moving things, they are increasing their ability to manifest. Manifest is a term used in parapsychology which described what a ghost is doing. In example...are they showing themselves (which is generally a very strong ghost), usually they are just shadows in the corner of your eye or sounds at night. The misplacement of objects is somewhat common too as they do like to mess with you. It is entirely possible, both having a spirit in your home and having a spirit follow you from one home to another. It sounds to me like you may indeed have a spirit. I grew up in a haunted house, and have experienced many of the same types of things you've discribed here, and no, you don't sound mental to me ;0) Peace!  |

That's just the thing though You Choose, we don't at all feel threated by it. When you mentioned something about the animal behavior, it sparked another memory. My husband and I used to have an upstairs bedroom. Well, one night I was coming downstairs, and my cat went balistic, flew down the stairs (knocking me down in the process) and ran head first into the door (without stoping at all mind you just SMACK right into the door). This is something that he did twice that I know of. He hasn't spazzed out in that sort of way since we had the down stairs bedroom, other than the fact he pretty much refuses to be on the floor (unless he's eating), but that's more than likely just a normal cat thing. There is another thing. you mentioned soemthing about sensitives and intuitive people, well in a sense I am a sensitive. At times I can get a bad feeling about something, and something bad ends up happening to whatever it was I had the feeling about (ex. My best friend had a cat, and everytime I saw this cat I got a horrible feeling. Well I told my friend about it, and she just sort of blew it off. Well a few days after the feeling I had gotten, she called me and told me she ran it over. Just a minute example. The other that sticks out in mind is just far to scary to think about. As far as my mom goes, she lost a child in the house that we were living in, as a housefire result. We both have had dreams about loved ones, so in fact I think we both might be sensitive so to speak. Although you'd never get her to admit it. I read her your post, and she said that whatever is here gives her a peaceful feeling, and it does me as well. It scared me at first when I saw the movements in the shadows at night in my room, but now Its almost as if I have someone guarding me taking care of me. Its the strangest thing, I swear. But is it possible that maybe there is more than one? Because at the times this happens, there is always more than one spot where soemthing is going on, and it looks completely different. At any rate, I would love to be able to get in touch with you to learn more about this, maybe in a more private manner. Thank you very much for your post! A good rule of thumb about anything in life is that if your intuition tells you it's so, it is so. The funny things about ghosts and spirits is that the human mind more tends to disprove their existance to maintain sanity. If you thought you were going to come face to face with something unworldly every time you turned a corner you would live a very paranoid life right? So, we tend to tell ourselves it's not real. Therefore when experiences happen that make you stop and think....whoa this could be something....odds are, it is.  |

Well, I'm glad your not getting negative vibes from this spirit(s). Have you felt cold spots? Have you smelled strange scents in the air, that have no explanation? Also, have you seen shadows passing a doorway, quickly during the day, out of the corner of your eye? You mentioned that your cat was more scared upstairs, so is she more relaxed in every other part of the house? I'm just curious since it definitely sounds like something is there and in my opinion, it's more than one. The one thing to remember is that these ghosts, spirits, demons, what ever they may be... can act and will act anyway they choose. They know almost everything about you and your family. I'm not trying to scare you but just want you to know that they may start trying to communicate you or your mother. They're making their presence know but that's different than an attempt to directly interact. This isn't someting I'd personally recommend but I know it can be tempting. I msgd you in profile and would be more than happy to talk you. :) |

Get a cat or a little dog who can stay inside. They are great at detecting presences, even when were not aware they're there. I believe it did follow your mom, because I've had several , should say many occurenses with strange spirits, and all were not good. Since getting married and moving to my husbands home, I had an incident one morning while getting ready for work. I was in the bathroom, and my cat Bitty was in the bathtub lapping water from the faucet, while I was putting on my 'face'. At first, I heard this low growling sound, that gradually got louder and louder. Then I hear avoice that sounded like a baby doll's voice repeating " Hello. I love you. Bye-Bye.", over and over again, about ten times. I know this must sound totally warped, but I was just frozen in my stocking feet, listening to this growling and the doll voice. Suddenly my cat jumped out of the tub, hissing wildly, ran to the door and peered down the hallway to my husbands boy's room where the voice was coming from. She hissed like she was looking directly AT an opposing threat, and ran down the hall in the opposite direction to the living room, rounded a corner and peered back down the hallway at me, standing at the bathroom door. I was scared by that point, and the voice had stopped and the growling too, but Bitty was freaked out. There are no toys of that nature in the boy's room. They are 11 an 12! I woke my husband and told him, and he just giggled at me, cause he's never had these encounter's, just me. Yes, I think these spirits seek out highly intuitive people, and follow them around. My husband, who is a christian too, prays for my safety and sanity, cause I can feel things around me at times, although I cannot see them. But, I can hear them, and see the results of they're presence in my cat and dog. I DONT WANT to see them! Good Luck. Darlene |

I think you probably do have a spirit/ghost ect in your home. The ghost of my cat used to come visit every now and then. So why not have one come with you when you moved.  |

good post,and welcome to USM, Firefly*.. after reading your post, i am under the impression that you may not think a dark hooded figure/spirit is a bad thing in your house. I am also sorry to hear your Mom lost a child in your house. But is there a connection? Yes, i am afraid so. One thing about demons is they are mischievious, they like to torment people. There are limitations, and for now it only seems to be "playful spirits." Unfortunately, acceptance and fascination of their appearance, leads to further events. "You Choose" was correct in warning you of impending danger.  |

Let me clear something up....(sorry for the confusion). I don't really feel comforted but I don't feel scared either. I know the first time I got a good image of the hooded figure, it scared the crud out of me. I got so scared I had to cover my face. When I finally got the courage to uncover, it was like whatever it is was hovering over my bed and looking right at me.(although I couldn't see a face) BOY!!! Did I EVER freak. I started crying, got goose bumps on top of goose bumps, and of course, I woke up my husband. I told him to look, and when he did look it was already gone so he didn't get the chance to see it. I'm not scared of it any longer, I've learned to deal and just not think about it, and to help ease my mind I just think of it as someone watching over me, because after all it isn't harming me. So, once again, I'm sorry for the confusion on this. ~*Firefly*~ |

I would encourage you not to 'guess' about whether this thing is good or bad, because reading this, I get the feeling that it IS bad, wearing a hood, and all....and if you're not fighting against it's presence, you are encouraging it to stay, even if you dont come right out and say that. THEY KNOW. I do not believe the ones that I have encountered had ANY good intentions, and they purposely came to bring sorrow and horror into my life. At times I have been so depressed I couldnt look up without seeing grass, and I know they love misery in humans! They seek a willing soul to hover around. At times, I have screamed out loud, "get out of My house, in the name of Jesus Christ!" They dont like that, and sometimes this is when they get worse, before they give up and go. Dont think they cant effect your life, and cause you problems, especially if you dont worry about their presence. I truly believe demons seek out vunerable people who may not know what they are dealing with, and they play nice, At First..... Darlene |

I haven't been able to read all the comments, so I don't know if I am repeating something already said here. Unless something harmful happens. Don't sweat it. Some spirits are more powerful than others, and are capable of doing more. I wouldn't say tell it its okay for it to stay, because that is inviting trouble. Also trying to make contact or anything else, only gives it power.. because you are giving it permission. It is possible that spirits will follow you from one place to the next, unless you make it known you don't want them following. More not so nice spirits won't listen unless you bound them to that area so that they can't follow you. I've been ghost hunting and into the paranormal for a long time and each situation is different. I hope this helps God Bless  |

No that doesnt sound mental as were all interested in the paranormal. Yes these things are real and it sounds like on spirit is a spirit of strife. I don't have time to read all the replies tonight, but will check it out again in the morning. Youchoose is smart on these things. Maybe I can come up with a few ideas also? Your situation is similar to my experiences as well. You are not imagining things from the sounds of it. You have a playful spirit that likes to play jokes on you and your mother. Your ora is inviting to whomever is in your house but, not in a bad way. If at any time you feel uncomfortable with the spirit just ask it to leave you alone, this does work. I also have had things show up missing then reappear out of no where. If you just ask the spirit to locate and bring back something, they will! Honest! Works like a charm! Oh, by the way, sprits can follow you no matter where you go. It could be connected to you by furniture, clothing item, or just you ora! Your in good hands from the sound of your spirit so don't be afraid. Good Luck! |
