I'd have taken whatever risk I'd face in order to protect that child. |

Thank you that is what I thought too...I dont think those people would get very far had they decided to sue anyhow |

Yea exactly and even if they did manage to win how much could a window possibly cost? Besides the firemen had to break the window open and you know they are not going to sue them. |

better to have a broken window than a dead baby... |

It depends on how long it would take the police and firemen to get there. If the baby appeared to be in any kind of immediate danger, I would have broken in. I definitely would have stayed and kept an eye on the child until they got there but I think I would have let the officials do the braking in as long as it wasn't an emergency. Mostly because I wouldn't want to do anything to hurt the child. I'm not trained in rescue like that. But like I said, if the child were in immediate danger and struggling, there's no doubt I would have done what ever it took. |

I agree with SoulDrifter. If the child was immediate danger I would have broken into the car(I know how to break in without damage being done, comes in handy when you lock your keys in the car!) But in fear of being sued I wouldn't do anything untill the authorities got there unless the child was in danger of course. I'd love to see any judge or jury go against me if I broke into a car to save a life, if they did, they are cruel heartless people. |

Here in Florida it does not take long for a child to get heat stroke in a car even with teh windows down teh tempature can reach over 100 degrees in minutes. Depending on how long a baby was in a car I guess I could wait but teh way this woman made it sound was this baby was in defenite distress. She said the baby was bright red when he/she was pulled out of the car and had to have oxygen immediately and was not crying at all when tehy finally got him out. He/she did not start crying until a few minutes after they were removed from the car. |

I woulda busted a window, and then probably busted the mothers face.... There have been somewhere around 50 children that have died from this in 2003. There is no excuse for this. None at all. |

Just the Mother Eddo?? This story said that BOTH parents went shopping and left the baby in the car. BOTH are idiots and should be in jail. IMO..I think that it would depend on the situation. If the baby appeared to be doing ok I would probably wait for the police and fire department, but I would talk to the baby to keep him/her occupied until they did arrive..I would not want to attempt to break any windows for fear of hurting the baby or frightening him/her. IF the baby appeared to be in distress you betcha I would break the window any way I could to get him/her out immediatly. |

Good point, LL. I missed the part about it being a couple. Yeah, I am an equal opportunity face breaker. :) |
