I have had this experience only once. I would interested if anyone else has had a similiar experience. It occurred when I was 18 during my first year at college. On a winter afternoon, between 2pm and 3pm, I walked 3 blocks from Mount St. Clare College to the bus stop. Running late, I thought I would miss the bus and have to wait an hour for the next bus. Passing a corner grocery, a 5 year-old ran past me chased by a large dog. At that moment things took on a surreal quality. I felt like I had stepped outside of time with someone watching over my shoulder. I intercepted the sobbing child and walked him the block or two to his home. I walked back toward the bus stop. If I hurried I might just make the bus. A car rolled up to me. The person needed directions. I gave the directions then walked on. I knew I had missed the bus and was resigned to a wait in the cold but I did not care. A warm peaceful feeling of approval enveloped me. I had passed my test. I did make the bus. How it changed my life: This mystical experience reaffirmed my religious beliefs. Even after the passage of years, it continues to do this.
