Debate: I do what i want! hyper

I do what i want!!

If you were approached with this saying, how would you take it? A couple of my friends, and I are makeing this our class motto for school. Every senior class has a motto, and we want this to be ours. Now i would like to know what you're thoughts are on it.

Disrespectful and rude?

Or playful, and truth?

It isn't meant as rude or hateful, or with an attitude. We started it because our whole senior class DOES WHAT THEY WANT! no harm there! Well we mean it to be playful and hold some truth. It is OUR senior year! Well the teachers are saying that if we have that as our motto we will get in trouble. We are rebelling yes, and Doing what WE want! I know that isn't the way to handle things, but how else? We are going around saying it, every time we pass a class, or think it should be said. One teacher is threatening us with detentions and giving us long lectures. Now her telling us that we CAN'T say this, is takeing our right to speak away, and thought....

now...how would you take it, if i walked up to you and said " i do what i want" saying it playfully...no attitude, with a smile on my face and laughing.

Date: 9/23/2003 7:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    I hate to say it but I'd interpret that as rebellious and sassy. Just being honest, no offense meant.
Date: 9/23/2003 7:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 38601    got that from South Park, didn't you? lol, great episode...yeah it could be construed as disrespectful, but it's up to you, maybe you could have a way of explaining the story behind it..
Date: 9/23/2003 7:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 38601    your teachers need to relax and loosen up a little bit
Date: 9/23/2003 7:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    do what you want eh? id like to see you go put a couple pounds of lead in someone in broad daylight, this is a very childish and immature saying regardless of who or what you are
Date: 9/23/2003 7:56:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 5252    you choose, no that's fine! I want opinions, because i personally see nothing disrespectful or rude behind the saying. One of our teachers told us that their class motto was 'blow it' ...what kind of message is that sending out? RP, i wasn't the one who actually started it, but i am the one who is actually sticking with it, i don't know where they got it.
Date: 9/23/2003 7:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 38601    geez jestr, take a chill pill or something...
Date: 9/23/2003 7:59:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 5252    Jestr, and that's your opinion, thanks. I just think, hey it's my senior year, if i want to be childish so be it...i've got to have a little bit of fun...
Date: 9/23/2003 8:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    I think everyone, including myself, was guilty of some childish and fun behavior their senior year. ;)
Date: 9/23/2003 8:21:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 5252    wooowooo! You Choose was childish *gasp!* get the police!! We have a suspect!
Date: 9/23/2003 8:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    Yep... those were the good ole' days! I miss em', A LOT!!!! LOL :)
Date: 9/23/2003 8:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 42519    Wow... I dont say as I remember what our senior class motto was..... I dont think it is the best thing to have as a motto, but it is a lot better then half of the ones I have heard.... Go you!! Love ya tonz
Date: 9/23/2003 9:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    I think though that one person is one thing but when it's your whole senior year it's wrong. Remember it may be your last year but your still an example to the younger students. While to you and your classmates it's playful to the younger ones it looks like anarchy is cool. And as a group it is a form of anarchy!
Date: 9/23/2003 9:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 19092    I was a perfect angel in my senior year.....
Date: 9/23/2003 9:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    Sure King, sure.....me too...LOL! :)
Date: 9/23/2003 11:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 13897    sorry, i think it's really annoying and shows immaturity. sounds like something a child would go around saying. so if you want to give people that impression, it's a perfect motto for your class. it just sounds like you have no thoughts for anyone else, but only yourself. that's how it comes off- doesn't mean you actually mean that, but that's how i see it.
Date: 9/24/2003 12:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 16671    sorry but to me it sounds like a four year old that is coming against their mama. I think I'd pick something more grown up. But to each their own.
Date: 9/24/2003 12:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 16671    and why did I answer that way? cause i DO WHAT I WANT, lol lol lol
Date: 9/24/2003 6:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 46486    LOL I like it! because when your a senior ut us true you do what YOU want.
Date: 9/24/2003 6:08:00 AM  From Authorid: 46486    it is*
Date: 9/24/2003 7:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    It reminds me of those little brats on South Park... they're funny on cartoons, but not in real life.
Date: 9/24/2003 9:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 53284    I would see this as immature and self serving. To live in a free society you can't place yourself over everyone else. The definition of freedom that I like the best is responsibility. You are not free until you are responsible for your actions. The attitude of "I do what I want" to me reflects a rather childish me first type of attitude rather than one of being responsible. That's just my opinion. It's not ment to be dissrespectful.
Date: 9/24/2003 9:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 47166    I would probably say "Okaaaaaay.... goody for you, I'm going over here now."
Date: 9/24/2003 9:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 12835    Criminals do what they want too.....
Date: 9/24/2003 3:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    i need to take a chill pill? hmm sorry for acting mature sheesh
Date: 9/26/2003 11:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 62060    If someone came up and said that to me I would probably run away screaming... But thats just me.
Date: 9/28/2003 7:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 53054    ok im a teen, and i think that that motto is well it is totally disrespectful..ok u do do what u want....most people knwo that but to have that as a motto....well that isnt too good! seriously there has got to be other mottos out there that are a little more positive to youth today...that is kinda degrading yourself!
Date: 9/28/2003 9:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 15394    I would think it was a selfish attitude problem really... but thats just me :)
Date: 11/13/2004 2:51:00 PM  ( S-Admin )   ok ok..i know that this was posted a while ago..but i just now read it and i would like to inform that i was the one who made the shirts and even though some may think that they are rude..it totally fits the attitude of our class...ok its rude....so is our class...ok its selfesh but so is our class....it is not ment for the younger class to have as an example because it is the CLASS OF 2004...not class of 2010...its a new age of rebles..watch out
