Well why that may be the case sometimes it definatly isn't the case all of the time. For example in South Africa, each sporting team has to have at least 2 black active teammates no matter if they are good enough! This is the same in the corporate world. There is still alot of affirmative action going on and while it's not a high percentage of people it's happening to it doesn't mean that it's not happening alot! |

Well I consider myself to be intelligent and I expect to find a job based on m qualifications and education. When I find one, I don't want people to think automatically that I was hired because of affirmative action. I would have to prove to them that I deserve to have my position and I don't think that is fair. |

I don't think it's a question of a the minority not being qualified for the job. It's basically the fact that Affirmative Action is no longer useful. Most people are hired fairly in most cases, regardless of race. I don't think Affirmative Action is necessary anymore. It most certainly was when it was instituted but given our current day and age, it only promotes reverse discrimination. |

I guess that depends on the minority. There was a girl here who was a member of a certain ethnicity and she got full scholarship to college and was guaranteed a job in the government because of her race. She slept on the job every day. I have pictures of her sleeping on the picnic table outside of the building. Drove me nuts... |

In the past, I was denied advancement in the military because of affirmitive action, and in the private sector, have been denied jobs for the same reason. I have also been in a position where I had to enforce affirmitive action, even when I knew the best person for a job was being denied employment, and that hiring the lesser person would mean an increased work load on other employees. Affirmitive action is a dinosaur that needs to be put to rest. |

That perseption will not go away until affirmation action goes away. Unfortunately we do not live in a colorblind society. I think that affirmative action programs were valid in the 60's and 70's. Now I think that it's time everybody was treated to same with respect to school admission, employment etc. |

I don't think I'll ever understand how people can make decisions based on someones race or "minority". If you're qualified, you're hired. If you submit the lowest bid, you're the contractor. If you're smart, you get the scholarship. If you're not one of these, fix it. Ignorace is curable stupidity is forever. |
