This doesn't happen in my town. . Unless you want to count the Underage students who are begging for money to buy cigarettes or nagging you to buy them for them. LOL! But I have been to cities where this does happen and I just walk away. It's sad to know that there are people out there who pretend to be homeless just to get money. . |

Social Slacker...It is sad to know that they pretend. Maybe some of them aren't pretending but you just don't know sometimes, you know? I was walking downtown one time and some teenager asked if I had any spare change and I said "no". Which I didn't at the time, even if I did, I still wouldn't of gave him any change. Then he got mad at me and yells "Why the *bleep* not?!* I just walked away. |

Chelelea....One time, my family and I were driving to Disneyland and we were going through California. I saw a man standing on a corner with 2 children! I don't remember what the sign said but having those 2 children, probably under the ages of 6 at least, standing out there with him! That's dangerous. |

there is a bit of that around here(it's in every town) there is two different types of beggers.. there is the old man... and the older teen young adult(this one usually has a pet).... the younger teen/adult usually has peircings messed hair females wear make up(like insanly heavy eye shadow)... i'm the type who will give a buck or two the olderly guys way(or even food) he usually pushes a cart around and is never actually sitting asking people fo rmoney with a sign... but the young.. they have sign(some have brand name clothing)... this also sorta leads into the welfare recipiants who drive around in luxary cars with brand names and can afford to go parting.... |

Yes! I do! I carry blankets & food in my car for them & always try to give them at least $1.00. First off these are moslty people who have given up on the system! Have no education & maybe a mental problem from birth, drugs or alachol! I work with some of these people in the human services dept. Some could not hold a job even if they tried their hardest! Never judge a person by the way they live. They are human & deserve love. Yes some are scammers! There's always that. Most are what you see. Hungry, dirty & cold! That's why I carry blankets. I give them one! Canned food to. We are all God's children no matter where we are in life. One of the people in my life that I love dearly, is one of those people. He has yet to find a way out. I pray to God someday he does. Until then, I can only love him & help where I can! |

Next time toss them a can of Aldi's veggies or something...lol. I used to see this in Madison when i lived there last year, I don't feel sorry for them, there's plenty of temp agencies and jobs out there they can go to if they really want to help themselves... |

Moon Girl...That's really sweet of you. :) For some reason, I just don't trust some of the people around where I live. Today, I was acutally debating whether or not to give some change to the people begging at the highway exits. I know that there are people out there that can't hold a job or any other honest reasons why they're begging. Most of the time I don't carry extra change with me. Whenever I go walking around downtown, I see people in wheel chairs, crutches, or in any poor conditions, I would feel sorry for them and again I would debate whether or not to give them money. I don't think that it's stupid that some people are begging for money, as long as their not scammers. I hate scammers. But I guess you can never really tell who's a scammer or not sometimes. |

Kelsey...Sometimes I do feel sorry for some of the people out there. I just wish that there weren't any scammers out there. One time, I was walking downtown and a man was begging for some change to some woman. The woman told the man that she didn't have any money to give out, but she was willing to take him out to get something to eat. She was offering him some food with the kindness of her heart. But the man refused and said he was just looking for money to buy alcohol and smokes. This man was probably around his late 40's and he was dressed in old dirty clothing. That was really sweet of her to offer that though. |

One time there was a Black Man standing on the Median in the middle of the road near the mall, and he was holding a sign that said "If you don't contribute money to me, you must be raceist" lol, I notcied NO one was giving him money. punky look at them in a case by case... if they are a teenager or young adult... they are probally there because they want to be.. if they have peircings or wearing make up.. they probally have a home to go tomostly eyeliner andeye shadow around here, but if they look like they have a mental disorder(yes there are alot of those people on the street unfortunately) and clean shaven is also a key if they are homeless and helpless like they say they are... and the older they are.... it's very unfortunate that our seniors who have maybe made a bad decission in thier life is now spending thier golden years on the street |

I live in the Washington DC area where seeing beggars is a common sight. Some were genuine. Others appeared carrying the same sign at the same site everyday year after year. For security reasons, I never gave to any individual. I give to charities to help these people. |

My hubby and I had a guy come up to our window of our car and stick his head right in. He scared me to death, I didn't know if he was going to harm us or what. He then said he needed money for alcohol, not food. It was obvious he wasn't lying but it may have actually been for drugs. I did laugh, I'll admit because at least he didn't lie to us saying he was starving. I gave him the $1.50 I had, basically because I wanted him to leave not because I wanted to aid his addiction or distructive behavior. Yep, this is a very scary epidemic now-a-days and their tenacity in getting money makes me uneasy. |

Giving them money only encourages begging . In the city of Dallas they have made it illegal to beg for money at street corners . Some beggars were getting agressive and forcing people to give them money . There are shelters and church groups that will provide them with a meal if they need one . I think alot of them beg for money to buy drugs . Do not support their habit ! Razzy aka |
