Any other Ladies having trouble finding Jeans that fit???

  Author:  15228  Category:(Discussion) Created:(10/24/2003 9:00:00 PM)

I wear a 10 mrs..what is up with the low riders in the mrs sizes??? Anyone else notice this? I'm 39 and have no desire to wear low-low riders!

I can find plenty of straight leg jeans, but they are always to big through the thigh area for me, but usually fit me in the waste.

I've been searching a solid month for boot-cut or flared jeans that are NOT low riders. Today I finally went to an expensive department store (expensive for me anyway) and found some calvin kleins on sale for 30 dollars. They are a little low-slung, but something I can live with. Get this. They are a size 8. I never wear a size 8.

I've noticed this trend of designers pretending an item of clothing is smaller than it actually is. I'm not stupid and wouldn't buy something just because it is a smaller size than I normally wear!! And I don't ever purposely wear the tags outside my clothes either, so whats the point of this? In fact I get frustrated having to take different sizes of the same piece of clothing into the dressing room. The sales clerk said this is more and more common.

Does anyone like Gloria Vanderbilts clothes? I like how her stuff fits, but they don't carry it at any of the stores around here.

I really, REALLY like Liz Clayborne, but I can rarely afford her stuff.

Date: 10/24/2003 9:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    my mom has this problem, she finally gave up and wears men's jeans now LOL they fit her perfect (And she' like me...something like a size 6 or 7)
Date: 10/24/2003 9:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    I usually buy guys jeans...lol. They're more comfy and don't have that extra bulge at the hips like womens jeans do, what a waste of fabric, it makes the jeans look bulky... not to mention the person wearing them when there's nothing to hold the bulge out..lol.
Date: 10/24/2003 9:07:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    DreamerPoet, my friend had that problem. Her grandmother always had to tack the waist of her pants in for her.
Date: 10/24/2003 9:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    my mother-in-law has to do the same thing....and i won't even get into the LENGTH problem...i am WAYYYY short
Date: 10/24/2003 9:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    I never thought of trying mens jeans. I need another pair, think I'll try some on this weekend. I guess i'll have to measure myself or something, aren't they in sizes of like 30-32 and so on?
Date: 10/24/2003 9:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    I have trouble with the length to. Either to long or to short. When they are just right, they shrink.
Date: 10/24/2003 9:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    Yeah the mens jeans run different-- being a size 10 like you said, you'd be in the 30-32 area I think. I love the guys Levis 501 button flys- I've never found a pair of jeans that fit me just right like they do!! lol
Date: 10/24/2003 9:23:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Thanks Kelsey, I'm going to give those a try.
Date: 10/24/2003 9:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    I wear a size 6 to an 8 in womens and a 9-10 in juniors. I find it is harder to fit a pair in juniors cause my hips are to big
Date: 10/24/2003 10:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 21867    As others have suggested...try mens jeans out. Most of the females I know prefer the cut/styles of Mens Jeans...for some reason they find them more comfortable than Womens Jeans...don't know WHICH women these jeans seem to be catering for, but its ertainly not the majority of women I know. Gees women get a raw deal clothing-wise sometimes...for guys its often a case of the clothing being adapted for the person...yet with womens clothing its a case of having to adapt oneself to the clothing. Thats just silly. Peace,
Date: 10/24/2003 10:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    I usually wear men jeans and pants. They're a lot more comfortable and I barely see any woman jeans or pants that I like. I haven't seen any clothes from Gloria except for some bras. I haven't tried them on before. I work at a discounted retail store and we get a lot of store brand clothings for really cheap compared to what they sell at the other stores. Sometimes we'll get Tommy Hilfinger, Liz Claborne, DNKY and others that go as cheap as $1.49. The other day, I bought a blazer type jacket that's by a brand called Rafaella for only 1.49 It used to be 30 bucks at our store and it used to be 68.00 in another store. Anyways, I'm rambling. LOL! Yea, I like men jeans better. LOL!
Date: 10/24/2003 10:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 60992    I have a hard time finding a jean that wher ethe thigh isn't the BIGGEST part of the jean and then by the foot near the end of the jean is like way to small don't like that. I want one witha bit of a flare. I usually end up going to old navy. Jeans are ok.. i want more jeans but I prefer sweats and kakhis and stuff like that.. DOn't have any kakhis tho.. -des
Date: 10/24/2003 10:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    I have never tried mens jeans before cause my waist is kinda small compared to my hips...With womens jeaans alot of times if I buy it to fit my hips it is way to big on my legs and waist and if I buy it to fit my waist it is to small on my hips. I love flairs though and if the low rise is nt tooooo low then I will buy them
Date: 10/24/2003 10:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 49091    I found that Old Navy has GREAT pants for people with "but booty's", "big thighs", "big hips" and all that good stuff. AND, they are always a size smaller then you really are. Which is perfect. LOL See I wear a 5 and a 5 was too big so I tried on a 3 and they fit PERFECT! I got 2 pairs of pants there and I LOVE them!! They fit at the waist, but they aren't tight around my thighs. I have sorta big thighs and I don't like those stretch pants sticky to my legs so I went there and found STRETCH pants that DON"T stck to my thighs!! I am so in love with these jeans! *LOL* They are comfortable, fit perfect, and if you want the "tight pants look" these are the way to go. They aren't tight, but they look slimming and perfect. AND THEY ARE CHEAP!!! Omgosh!! these pants were $22!! They are FABOLOUS pants! You gotta go check em out!!
Date: 10/24/2003 10:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 49091    And for all those short, medium and tall people, old navy have Short, Regular and Long pants. I wear shorts, but get regulars so when they shrink (after my dad does laundry and either shrinks EVERYTHING or dies something) they are just right. Not to long, not to short.
Date: 10/24/2003 11:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 26452    I have that problem, I hate it, I can go to the mall with my boyfriend, and he can get a pai of pants that look great on him within 10 minutes of being there, and I am in the mall HOURS, and U might find ONE pair that fits decently, and always has some kind of flaw, my ONE pair of pants, that fit PERFECTLY, got stained, ripped, and faded lol.
Date: 10/25/2003 12:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 53052    i notice that designers are made smaller then normal EXECIALLY in wedding dresses!!
Date: 10/25/2003 3:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 28946    Mens jeans fit me better too as womens jeans waists were to high up on the body. Even mens jean brands fit differently though as Levis are snug in the thighs. Wranglers and Lees fit comfortable in my opinion.
Date: 10/25/2003 4:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 33925    If they fit the waist, they dont fit the hips, if they fit the hips, they are too too big in the hips..Oh and they are almost always too long for me..LOL..I like low riders, but not so low that when I sit down my butt is flashing everyone!
Date: 10/25/2003 7:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 54830    you know.. i was gonna post something like this today, lol.. i have your problem, except i cant find anything that will fit lengthwise because im so short. Im 5"1 and i should take a size 7 in juniors, but theyre 6 inches to long, even the 'short' pants dont fit me. Lol, its a never ending quest to find pants that will fit..
Date: 10/25/2003 10:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 35720    Old Navy's jeans always fit me, plus they're like 3 sizes smaller than normal. I'm a size 7 right now, and I fit into a 2 in Old Navy pants.
Date: 10/25/2003 10:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 35720    LL, I really like lowriders, but I hate it when girls in my school sit and the lunch table and the entirety of their thong underwear sticks out. Please, I'm trying to eat. LOL
Date: 10/25/2003 10:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 49091    Ohh yeah Rika sis, I totally agree. I am like argh, there goes lunch. LOL
Date: 10/25/2003 6:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem. I haven't been to Old Navy in years, I'll try them to.
Date: 10/25/2003 6:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Rika, I wish I could wear the low riders, but my main problem is my tummy and they just don't look very nice. I'd really turn you off to your lunch if you saw me in them:).
Date: 10/25/2003 6:15:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Agent Smith, guys have it much better than woman. I can buy my husband a 34/34 in any brand, any style and I know they will fit him almost every time.
Date: 10/25/2003 6:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 62367    I've never found jeans that fit. I am size 18 now (thats down from a size 30+ thats about a 5X). I have always had to cut off jeans and hem them to get the correct length.
