Tips for the use of Ginger!!!!....Zema

Ginger's anti-inflammatory properties help relieve pain and reduce swelling associated with arthritis, rheumatism and muscle spasms.

Poor appetite?.....Cut fresh ginger into small cubes and boil in honey and water over a low heat until the ginger becomes translucent. Nibbling a few pieces before or with a meal promotes appetite.

It's blieved that ginger was first used in Indian cuisine and folk medicine and later introduced by Buddhist monks to China, where it is still used extensively.

Ginger relieves indigestion, gas pains, diarrhoea and stomach cramps by increasing the production of digestive fluids and saliva.

To ward off motion sickness, take some dried ginger a few hours before travelling and repeat every one or two hours during the journey.

Ginger's sweet taste has made it a popular herb and itis used today in ginger ale, breads, confectionery and tonics.

Candied ginger is a common feature of Japanese cuisine, as it acts as a preventative to seafood poisoning.

But it is always best to first check with an appropriately qualified health practitioner before taking ANY herbal preparations...Myself I love ginger and always have some in my home.....

Luv and Peace....Zema

Date: 10/25/2003 7:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 14909    You can also put about 2 tbs of ginger in a leaky radiator, small pin hole that is, and it will seal the hole, Don't put too much in or you'll clog up the radiator and you'll be walkin.

Date: 11/3/2003 7:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 28946    Thanks Sis for this post. I didn't know that ginger was so healing and had been around for so long. I keep thinking I want to try to buy the root instead of the ground powder but I guess old habits are hard to break.
Date: 11/3/2003 12:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42945    thanks Penny, I think the root puts more flavour into any cooking more so than the ginger, but I still use the powder ...I love to roast pumpkin with a little brown sugar and a little grated ginger on it...puts a whole different taste to pumpkin, although I love pumpkin any which way..lol!!! hugs Sis....
