For anyone southern, dont be offended by the title. It just thought it sounded good. This is a story I just recently wrote for my Creative Writing class. tell me what you think. Don't be afraid to be brutally honest. Im used to it from class critiquing. Hope you like it!

The cheery family gathered together in front of their new home while Nick pulled up the “For Sale” sign and cast it aside, proudly. He had quickly decided on the home on account of its good condition, location, and price. The owner was quick to sell and was there to greet them that day, along with a neighbor or two. “We’re the Thompson’s.” The couple said in unison, with a thick Southern twang. They stretched out their plump hands and greeted the family, giving the youngest of their two children a poke in the belly. “So skinny! Don’t they feed ya’ll folks up North?” Not quite sure how to respond, the family just grinned. Excitement grew around the small, close knit town, of the new families arrival and dinner invitations overwhelmed them. Nick and Louise Davidson, friendly people that they were, accepted the invitations, eager to make new friends and introduce their children to the neighbors’. But the family was a bit surprised when they went to the first families house. At dinner that night, they were served quite handsomely with a large spaghetti dinner. They could barely finish half their plate before the charming hostess would serve them more. On this pattern continued and the family, being of good manners, tried their best to clear their plates, but the Thompson’s heaped on more and more. Soon, the hour was late and Louise took the upper hand. “Dinner was lovely but we must be going. The children have school tomorrow.” And so they were released. “Our neighbors sure our hospitable.” Nick said on the car ride home. “Yeah, and big eaters!” Chris, their oldest child said and patted his full stomach. Dinner invitations continued and the Davidson’s politely accepted and accepted until they couldn’t handle anymore and began to decline. So because the family wouldn’t come to dinner, the neighbors brought dinner to the family, from Thanksgiving turkeys to Christmas cookies, the neighbors pressed on. Months went by and finally it was summer again. Nick and Louise was quite satisfied with the friends they and their children had made and were eager to go to the annual town picnic. The invitation read:

Kannablyst’s Town Picnic June 25th, 12pm to 4pm

Lot’s of fun for you And your’s.

No need to bring a Covered dish. Food Will be provided!!

So the 25th came around and the family eagerly piled into their station wagon and made way to the picnic. The Davidson’s had become quite popular in town and everyone was very glad they came. Carelessly, they played silly games in the park until everyone was famished and ready to eat. It was a four course meal that day and everyone went home happy. Well, mostly everyone went home. The town had their annual auction the next week and pounded the “For Sale” sign back in place.
