Are you one of the telemarketer people who takes surveys? I got one of those calls once and it was so much fun to do! Lol, it was about fastfood restaurants. The only problem was that it was really long....lol! I'm getting very off track here though. I don't get why some people are so rude! It's like, can't you just take time out of your day for a minute just to be nice to someone who has to take time out of THEIR day to call you?! |

Just out of curiosity what does the fact that they are from the United States have to do with it? |

You are totally right, how hard is it to be nice for 30 seconds. I work for an advertising agency and we once had a receptionist that was incredibly rude when she answered the phone. I mean she didn't know who was calling, we had clients calling all the time, she didn't care. ~HUGS~ *Brown Eyed Angel* |

I don't mind it if people call me at home or at my place of business as long as they say who they are with and give me a chance to say "yeah or neigh" as to if I want to hear their schpeal. I can't stand it when you answer the phone and this person goes through a dissertation about their services and what they are offering and you want so badly to just say "shut up for a minute" I'm not interested in this. Instead you set there and listen while you wait for the "can I continue" if you're that lucky. I'm not rude until I've repeatedly said I'm not interested and they don't get it. I usually (even though I know it is rude) just hang up. At that point, I've been polite and feel you are invading my personal time and space which is rude, so I have little issue with hanging up. I have had people call and be rude to me while trying to sell me something - like they are just flabbergasted that I don't want what they have to offer. As if being rude will make me want to buy it. but that is my rant... sorry for going off - I guess it goes both ways though. I don't envy anyone in telephone sales, support or collections... I couldn't do it. |

LOL..Jamie, totally understandable..When I make my calls I introduce myself and who I am calling for at the very beginning. I then ask ONE question of the customer and go from there..I refuse to get a customer angry..I dont think THAT is good for business either. Just so you know though..when we are on the phones we are required to give three rebuttles. We are told NOT to just let the customer go without at least three attempts at sale. |

LL, AT&T was charged a $780,000 fine here in the states because they are calling people who are signed up on the "Do Not Call" list. This was in the news a week ago. Try to understand, I am on that list and I do not want anyone calling me on MY phone trying to sell ME anything whatsover. My phone and my computer is for my own personal use and I hate it when any company bothers me about their products. If I was looking for the services that AT&T or any other company had to offer, ..I would call them... They can easily advertise through pamplets, newspapers, and magazines, etc to let people know what they do offer. Truthfully, If a company calls me to sell me their products, I simply hang up and I block their number through a special phone feature. Maybe the business you contacted heard the news regarding AT&T being fined and they resent being called. ((Hugs)) to my Canadian friend.. |

I personally believe they ALL should sell their stuff on the web. IF someone is interested they can go look it up. Now when I talked to you hon, I wasnt shopping as I dont even have my phone yet, but then we were taking about cell phones and such and Iuse to have att and t when I was in utah on the one rate plan, several years ago. BUT back to telemarkerts. I hate to be called, espeically when they dont care how early it is. some of us *when have a phone* cant shut off our phones day and night as that is the kind of bussiness were in, and or we have children and such scattered around that we would not want to miss an emergency phone call. And at first when all this came out a little here a little there, I EVEN when busy, would listen to their speil and then politely say Sorry, not interested. But as I got a little older and a little more bothered, I thought WHY waste their time and mine. If I listen to it from top to bottm I'm only building up their hope that they might make a sell. which they are not, so Im wasting their time and energy. AS well as my own. So Now when I answer a phone, Im short and sweet. I ask what are you selling? If its not something I'm interested in. I just say, thanks but not thanks, and hang up.Or when it was a phone company and I LIKED my service , I'd tell them that, NOPE happy with mine, if anything changes I'll let ya know. People dont hate telemarkerts, THEY hate the fact that most of them dont care what hour they call, or they use these computer things, and your going HELLO?? HELLO? HELLO? Just to have a taped message come on. NOW LOL, remember all this so 1. you can be a good one and not bug people and 2. you can be a good one and not bug people, LOL LOL LOL |

Rusure, we are aware of the lawsuit and AT&T is doing everything in their power to make sure they dont call those on the do not call list. I have NO control over who I call since it is all computer generated..If someone tells me they are on a do not call list..I immediately add their name and number to AT&Ts call list as well so that they will receive no further calls. |

LOL..Deb I always open with my name and who I am calling for, so there are no surprises when I call. I also listen to my customers..ask a few short questions, and if I can save them money I let them know..If I cant I let them know that as well..I refuse to ram something down someones throat just to make the sale. That is NOT my style. I am doing VERY well this way by the way. I treat the customers with the utmost respect and I also treat them like they actually are human..not just a number for me..USM is kind of my guide for this. It really is..I go into a call thinking one of those calls could be to one of YOU and I would never disrespect anyone from here! |
